It really upsets me that your city does not trim the shoreline. I understand that your community lost over 250 jobs so far in 2009. I think this fact would prompt the realization that tourism is important to the community. Why don't you trim the trees and weeds on the shoreline. The argument that the DNR won't allow it doesn't fly as the shoreline has been taken care of for years until the last few years. I heard that the City maintenance people are avoiding this work to make a subtle statement to the Administration and Council over not allowing the hiring of additional staff. We love the drive and to stay at Lake City for a long weekend. Now it looks pretty rough. Ever walk out on your gov't pier. The trash is pretty disappointing. Otherwise a nice community. When the lost jobs hit the community in the next year...its going to get tough on everyone. I feel for the families. I do think the people are friendly and want our tourism dollars. Probably one of the prettiest places in the midwest.

If those lazy, over-paid, under-worked, ham-n-egger city workers dont want to do their job: the answer is simple - Most govt. workers are overpaid, so they probably all own boats. The next time you see some lazy Lake City govt. workers just walking by the shoreline, but not bothering to do his/her job and cut down the weeds: just go to their house and hook up their boat and trailer to you vehicle and drive it South on Hwy 61 about one mile. Once there, unhook the trailer and launch the sucker right off the nearest bluff. Just the sight of some overpaid govt. worker's boat and trailer being launched off a bluff will not only hopefully knock some common sense into their lazy, underworked noggin, but it will be poetic justice for all of us private sector employees who have had to suck it up over the past year while a whole hoard of lazy, overpaid, underworked govt. workers bitch about having to put in a whole eight hour day ...

I know what you mean I called the city about a street light out and after a week it still hasn't been fixed.

Daily Horoscope for December 21

Aquarius

Although you're still feeling sociable and outgoing, the Solstice brings the need for a little time to yourself now and then. It's time to temper your busy social life with some precious moments of solitude. Make sure you do, as this need is something important and life-enhancing. It will certainly recharge your inner batteries, which might be a little run down.
