A $450,000 loan! That is bizarre. They were given the house to ensure that the security of a home would always be there for their family. Even more amazing is that they were given $250,00 in additional donations and scholarships. These people were given so much except the common sense needed to protect their assets.

For real. ABC could come build me a home and I can guarantee I would not use it for any type of loans. To me if I can not afford to pay for it out of pocket than I do not need it. What is wrong with these people. GREEDY!!!

The people took out a loan to start a business, not a great decision, but at least it wasn't used for drugs or alchol or what ever. Bad decision, now they have to deal with it. I don't understand why these homes they build have to be so extravagent. I don't need four fireplaces and a lobby.

Since when is using your biggest asset as leverage in an investment a bad choice? Everyone does this. Look at Donald Trump. Some turn out good an some turn out badly. Starting a construction business 2 years ago was simply the wrong time frame. Maybe $450,000 was a little excessive but you never know. Besides agree with Toni in CT these homes absolutely DO NOT HAVE TO BE SO EXTRAVAGENT. Here they are trying to help a family, since when does a family get help with 4 fireplaces and a solarium. A workshop maybe. Very sad for them. But it was there home and they did want they wanted with it.

Irresponsible, just totally irresponsible. If they were capable of running a construction business wouldn't they have been able to fix their own home and keep it in decent shape. I'll bet there was no construction business. They are probably a bunch of in-bred jeds with little education and even less moral integrity. It just goes to show you that if people don't have to work for something, they don't value it. To think there are thousands upon thousands of people who could have benefited from the project and they have squandered it like a bunch of bums.

I would hate to be anyone of those who work so hard and gave these people the help they needed! They obviously did not appreciate one penny and did realize the HUGE gift they were given! They should be ashamed of themselves! Some people just don't appreciate anything unless they worked for it!

Problem is, they were given a home and didn't have to work for it. No appreciation for the gift.

Then they make stupid decisions and lose the house...

No good deed goes unpunished.

I guess they weren't that needy to begin with or they wouldn't put themselves in such a predicament.

That's what happens when you give people handouts. They squander it.

That whole TV show is a stupid idea in the first place.

i am just wondering how much did it cost a month to actually maintain that kind of house. I can see new urniture and a livable enviroment but to have all of those things put into a house is just ridiculious. If they had the money in the beginning "EXTREME MAKEOVERS" would not have had to reconstruct their home, however with all of the upgrades did anyone every think about their monthly bills. Stop judging people. We dont really know the whole story.

They were given a gift that went unappreciated. They took what was given to them for granted and that sucks for all the people that worked hard so they could have better; so they could have more. The house should be given to some deserving family.

Maybe ABC or Beazer Homes could purchase the home and give it to a more deserving family.

Give a man an fish, he will eat today. TEACH a man to fish and he will eat for the rest of his life.

This one has made headlines, how many others have done the same, quietly. This is why I do not watch this show.

My family taught me to have PRIDE in any endeavor. If I obtained a job cleaning toilets, I guarrantee, I was the best toilet cleaner on the job. And I did it all myself.

We need to get them to learn that sometimes it takes more than just one job. I started working since I was 15 years old and have never been without a job. I have held up to five jobs at one time to keep my house. I am still struggling after 20 years and I don't care if I never pay off my mortgage.

Sure, give them enough assets to afford a business when they couldn't keep up the house they had. They were crying because they are so bad off, they needed to start a business? And Construction? Could they not see their work? The bank sure could see a win win situation.

Goes to prove tht putting someone in a new environment won't teach them one thing about fiscal resposibility. There "ain't no free lunch" or home to resocialize people if they don't realize that you have to earn what you get. The lottery doesn't pay off if you do't BUY THE TICKET. The Mayor was right! This country leads people to believe in the American myth that there is a great big candy bowl and all you need to do is grab a hand full. That is just part of the great BS we are fed (Belief System)

Always wondered if this sort of thing happens to these families on this show. They should do a revisist show every year and go back to see how all the families are really doing after a year and how kept or not kept the homes are!

Daily Horoscope for December 19

Libra

Don't try to do too much at once today or you'll disappear up you know what! You're all fingers and thumbs, accident-prone and things start breaking. It won't help if you're trying to concentrate at work and a certain chatterbox doesn't know when to shut up. Ask them to be quiet but try not to sound shrewish.
