according to my husband, the police said that the guy was under a lot of stress and had a mental breakdown. after swat surrounded the building, the guy somehow slipped out and tried to run. Cops caught him off the kaleidoscope property and arrested him.

I'm 99% sure there were no gunshots. I was right outside of Riptide when they started evacuating and I'm sure people would have heard the gunshot. There was nobody panicking at all.

police said nothing about a gunshot or anyone being hurt. I highly doubt that someone was shot. But I was not there, so I do not know for sure.

We were in Riptide when this all happened. They locked down the restaurant and we were told that no one could leave. Next thing we saw 3 SWAT team members with guns drawn enter the restaurant and do a complete search. Talk about scary! In the meantime we had no idea what was going on. We heard that there had been a possible shooting outside and that the shooter had entered the restaurant looking for a way out.

lol! the cops are pigs! they were such vaginas about the whole situation. I was in the kaleidoscope when I heard that there was someone that had a gun and was making threats. As a training fireman and being just a man in itself i made sure everyone was evacuated, i was the last out of the building. The cops made the security guards do their jobs by evacuating people while they all hid in the parking lot. The cops were all afraid. They all had 12 guage shotguns (which are hard to miss with) and hid in their cars. Neways there were stilll a couple 15 year old oblivious girls in the building that i overheard on a cops radio so I went into get them. The cops told me to stop and i ignored them. After the girls were safe the cops put a shotgun on my back and arrested me. Everyone probably thought i was the threat. lol. newayz the cops really do need to handle their business. It was ONE crazy man. not a big deal. but if the cops are afraid of shit like this how are they even suppose to protect the general public like they are suppose too. The security guards are not trained to handle these situations and the police are so they need to man up and walk in.
Glad no one was hurt though :]

I was there at the Derby (restaraunt under Riptide). We were told to leave immediately and that police would escort us out. Not a single officer except at the entrance/exit to parking lot.) All I saw was one security guard who was oblivious to people walking in the mall. BTW...band did stop playing as as we were told to leave (no details.) For all we know action could have been happening upstairs for quite some time before we were told.

Aries

You've got a taste for adventure today, so you might decide to depart from tradition in some way and make it an unusual Christmas. You're certainly all set for a great time, and you'll want everyone else to enjoy themselves as much as possible. You'll probably eat and drink too much but, hey, it's Christmas! Isn't such excess par for the course?
