How many of you think it's just super that we have a new welcome center? And we have also created a job for someones family member, does anyone know the final numbers on this???Plus the cost of the additional land that HAD to be purchased?Oh i think it's just grand, maybe we could put in a hottub and some ping pong tables and our children will have something to do besides driving around the square and doing drugs etc.,but then our court system would lose some revenue...hmmm,Does anyone really know how many palms got greased on this one?Wake UP MACON COUNTIANS!

The land might have been donated but there was alot of money spent to build something that is not doing the people of macon county any good. Tell me what that building is going to do? Oh I forgot it is for the people that visit here, what a joke what we need here for years is jobs. The only jobs around here are the one the mexicans take but we all want them here not!some of our county politians say this is a retirement community I say that is alot of bull.We need to bring in jobs get rid of the illegals.I ask you to ask yourselves one question, how many of the kids that graduate from out high schools in macon county stay here after they get out? Most of the people I went to school with either work out of town and drive everyday or has moved out. Macon I say stand up and take your county back!

Wnen I heard there was a welcome center coming to Lafayette, I thought "Welcome to what" There are no jobs here, nothing to keep our young people here, and no hope in sight with the elected officials we have. ALL OF THEM. No one has made any effort to attract any jobe at all for years, not since Doyle Gaines was in office. How sad that we continually elect people that are not interested in us, not interested in our children, and not interested in jobs for all of those having to drive many miles to a job.

Sad.....but so so true, seems our elected officials are only interested in helping themselves, and maybe there family members, our children sure deserve better, what a shame!

next thing we know it'll be a safe house for the grim reapers mc - saw one of their scouts down here a few weeks back.
above and beyond the two wheeled world though my favorite quote from this entire thread:
"retirement community I say that is alot of bull."
Guess what, Old people don't want to work. So that means lots of Customer Service jobs for the rest of us, right? Guess not.
Retirement does not equal death. Can't wait til someone figures that out. It would help though if we'd elect younger folks so the average age would drop from 75 to something "young and whippersnappery" like - you know - 50.

I would rather hang out with the grim reapers than the mcr, now that they have done what they have done.... at least they are real and say what they mean and mean what they say, if they like you, you know it and if they don't then you know that too....
