Louisiana's Child Support System

I honestly understand your situation. I went to school received a degree and at the current time I have a decent paying job however I am struggling to make ends meet. His father is so far on his child support it is ridiculous. He went overseas to work for a private contractor so that he would not have to pay child support. I thought that he would still have this taken out of his check but I was wrong. The system has made it too easy for these men to dodge their responsibilities. I am almost looking at trying to get a part time job however i don't have the time or the daycare for the child for the extra time. I do want to do work from home however, I dont' see any resonable opportunities in that area. I refuse to let my child end up not living up to his full potential because he wasn't given every opportunity. At the current time I am having to enroll my child in a private day care due to the lack of suitable schools in the area. His father pays child support when he feels like it and he is over 5500 dollars in the arears and my child is not even three. So in other words they rarely ever make him pay child support. However, they offer me no help with child care or anything because they say that I make too much. All I can do is laugh. Do they expect me to live in the projects, allow my kid to not eat, or just flat out just stop working because of the daycare cost and stay at home and bank on the state for assistance. I am so tired of seeing women with three and four kids getting help and a person barely making it with one can't get help because they think just getting by is good enough.

not taking up for all dead beat dads but come on some women have numerous kids for different men what about the men who are lied to by women who want to just trap the man i think it should go both ways if man decides he wants to terminate the pregnacy and she doesnt and has more than two baby daddies the man should be allowed to say i dont want any part some women can be sneaky in the things they do and if it ends up that they are raising a child because of being careless or just plain trying to trap a man O WeLL!!!!!!!!

did it ever dawn on everyone that every man on child support is not a dead beat dad. i have been with my husband for eight years, whom is a great father to his daughter and a great stepfather to my kids. out of spite and ignorance his daughter's mother put him on child support. what kills me is the system is designed to take the women side even if they are wrong. i not disputing that women should not collect child support because i collect it for my kids, but their father wasn't taking care of his responsibilities. then on top of that my husband pays her $500 monthly and doesn't get to see his daughter, yet the court system finds nothing wrong with that. they also find nothing wrong that these women take child support and pay car notes and everything else EXCEPT take care of the kids. you would have a car note with or without kids so child support isn't meant for that purpose. on top of everyhting we still support our stepdaughter outside of child support, but i think it's a disgrace when you get support and your child is dirty when she comes by our house with $500 a month of support that is given. these women need to be held accountable for what they do because they still have good men that take care of their kids. some of these women don't even want the kids but keep them for a means of support in the form of child suport. the laws in louisiana need to be changed to also give men a fair chance regarding child support.

i am currently trying to get off of child support for my now 6yr old daughter who has been living with me since birth. i have not had any contact with my daughters mother since. i didnt realize i was on support untill recieving a letter stating the amount i had to pay. i contacted the local office and was told there was nothing i can do. i was young then and didnt realize the toll it would have on our future. we know live in tn and i have other children with my fiance who has been the only mother my daughter knew since 1 yrs. my taxes were taken so i called the office to finally end this.i was given a court date and told the money had not been dispursed yet and will not be until after the matter is resolved. when i went to court i was told they sent the money to the mother the previous day. i brought proff of us living in tn since 2005 and they achnowledged that. i asked when was i supposedly served papers and was given many diffrent dates. i requested them sent to me with my signiture on them. after a few months they were sent to me with my mothers name on it but it was deffinetly not her signiture. to make it worst someone form the office wrote my mothers name on it elswere and it is the same as the signed name. i was sent a letter in the mail this week saying i was delinquent by ? amount and they will garnish my checks. how am i supposed to take care of my children that includes my daughter if i have to pay someone else my money. i can assure you it was not even the childs mother who recieved the money it was someone living at the residence she used to frequent. i am losing time,work and money is being taken from my child. i cannot afford a lawyer and i have a court date sept 18 2008 i need any advise i can get. help. and thank you

You really need to call the D.A.'s office on that one. If you explain your case to an attorney, they can give you some clear direction. I believe in a case like this....beings that the state is sooooo wrong....that in the end they will be liable for your attorney fees and maybe even more. Also, say your prayers...God can fix this!

I know hwt you are talking about. It isn't only in LA I am from california and my es is in LA. I think I received two years support after my ex got out of the military. My son is eighteen and the child support owed to him is over $200,000. With no attempt by my ex to pay any of it. What a shame. when my sone was growing up I kept in touch with the local child support office every 30 to 45 days and all I ever got was the run around. It is definately frustrating.
