i think everyone should pray for those people down there. think of how lucky you are today when you complain about an inch of snow. i am told it is not over yet. the storms are moving to the south. isn't the super bowl going to be in miami? i wish them well, all we can do now is pray.

For any families that may be concerned about their loved ones... I know that the tornado did NOT hit Lake City, Florida... as, I have nieces living there... so, my sister called the police departmenet in Lake City... and, they said the news reports are wrong... that the storm hit 200 miles from them...

Hello!! To hopefully answer some of your questions...

There is SEVERE damage in Lady Lake, and The Villages of Sumter County. There are 3 dead in Lady Lake area, and 11 dead in Paisley (another area hit hard). The damage extends east across the state into Seminole and Volusia counties. I know that in Lady Lake and The Villages that concrete home were destroyed with walls and roofs missing. Mobile homes that were hit in MANY areas are leveled completely.

I have not heard of any damage being reported in Fruitland Park or Mount Dora.

To find out about residents, we are being sent to this website -

No, DeBary is fine. I live in Deltona. The greatest Volusia County damage was in DeLand and New Smyrna Beach.

I have storm shelters available.
Another tragedy that could have been prevented. Construction today is antiquated, building "model A" homes in a supersonic era.
Technology today makes it possible to build a monolithic concrete structure that not only can withstand 300 mph winds but is also super energy efficient.
These structures have no wood roofs to blow off, the walls and roof are made of continuous solid concrete.
Until the public is made aware of new technology and demand from contractors a built home that can withstand any disaster NOTHING will change.
Oh yes, price to build such a structure is less than conventional construction plus the 30% or more savings in energy bills annually.
My company will be building such a structure in Inverness, Florida in hopes of showing the public a better safer way to build.

It was just a small area of Florida. A similar happening in Nassau County would have wiped out hundreds of homes and killed many more. Long Island is not storm free. It could happen there too.

I agree with you 100% and my book -Hurricane Recovery/ The Peoples' Village Plan pushes for this type of construction. My plan shows people how to recovery from disasters and also how to prepare. Maybe there is some way that together we can really help the people during this disaster?
My book is on my web site gswansonbooks.com if you wish to get a look at it.

These people don't have the money to buy books right now, and I doubt they have internet access! Why not send a check to the Red Cross to help them out?

Sorry you have everything wrong. I am not trying to sell books. I am trying to help people in need. I published this book during Katrina with my own money because I could not get anyone to accept my free help. They were all to busy spending money of the down town and the people were forgotten, and many still are. I quest is to help people not make money. I wish to discuss my plan with anyone that will take some action. If this is spam, maybe some of you should try to help as much as I have.

Saw old woman in front of her ruined home with no insurance because her company TRIPLED her premiums. Seems to be the decade of big business.

Daily Horoscope for May 23

Aquarius

If you're a typical Aquarian you're often quite idealistic and today is no exception. You're wandering around on cloud nine, especially if you're thinking about a very special someone, and indulging in all sorts of deliciously romantic daydreams. Reality? You've no time for it right now, because it will intrude too much on your fantasies.
