I think you forgot the police having to be called to Suja's office... was it once, or twice... because some kind of physical confrontation was going on there between one of her underlings and Suja?? I can't remember how that all went down. If I recall correctly, Suja wasn't very forthcoming in attempted press interviews regarding the matter.
Do I have any or all of this wrong? I'm not sure. Can somebody who remembers all that stuff remind us of Suja and the Police in her office, if it happened? Did someone pop Suja in the nose, or did Suja pop someone in the nose, or did nothing happen, or what?
The police were indeed called to Suja's office twice. Once due to a physical assault between her staff members and again when her former husband found out through the media that Suja was having affairs with the owner of yellow cab and the President of the Fire Department Union.

If those aren't stunning enough qualifications, don't forget Suja was BOOTED from the Coastal Commission where she previously was an alternate Commissioner due to her undisclosed ties with a company seeking a decision from the Coastal Commission. It was the same company that bought the decisions of RDA Director Craig Beck and DLBA President Kojian, leading to Beck's summary demotion.

Articulate is not how I would describe Suja. I think sneaky, crafty, political and heartless would be much better descriptors. All of which are NOT characteristics of a deserving Vice Mayor.

Personally, I would like to see Gabelich be made Vice Mayor, mostly because she has stated she doesn't want the position.

According to Doug Krikorian's latest column (I know, I know, but the P-T still prints it for some reason), Gary DeLong is set to open a marijuana dispensary in Naples soon. Wonder what he's up to in the Bahamas...

I love hearing about Gary DeLong being corrupt. This is just my opinion and I don;t know for sure however all the evidence I have gathered would lend to the belief that he does favors for people especially for his neighbors in Park Estates. He is friends of and supports the many philanderers and desperate housewsife behavior of the people who live in that area and will use his influence without any gathering of the facts to help cover up the lies of his philandering "friends". I think it's a disgrace to the people who died for this country to manipulate the system in any way. he only has the power and wealtht hat he does because of the sacrifices made by the people who died for this country. When will people step up in this country, win or lose, who just have integrity rather than just deep pockets? Delong will find himself in court before he finds himself in Washington if he keeps doing favors for the wrong people. All because you know of someone doesn't mean you know them and it definitely doesn't mean they are telling you the truth. Get the facts straight before you do a favor for a "friend".

Yes. You are right. It is a truism that politics is the art of compromise. It is just as true, though that, in order for the republic to survive, there must be political leadership who are willing to stand up and just say no when it is appropriate to do so.

Since the 60s 70s revolutionaries came to power in all levels of Government as well as expensive taxpayer funded academia, there has been no such leadership, a leadership who might be called "the adults", or as some might call them, "representatives of the taxpayers".

Tiny but noisy radical special interest groups can make the most outrageous of demands. Their fellow Governmental and academic ideologues who are now in positions of power will "compromise" with those demands, thus getting the camel's nose under the tent. This commonly employed post revolution so-called "change" tactic has resulted in the dangerous social conditions the nation is now experiencing. It has served to destroy the world's greatest economy that the revolutionaries seized following the revolution.

Very well said - couldn't agree more! The crooked and corrupt DeLong will cast his vote for the crooked and morally bankrupt Suja Lowenthal.
It does seem odd that DeLong would openly support one of the far left lunatic union operative Lowenthals who have done so much irrevesible damage to Long Beach.
Why would we vote for DeLong for Congress when he cares so little for Long Beach that he would openly support a Lowenthal????

I really hope people don't vote for this guy. I experienced the political corruption through his "friends" firsthand. This guy is all about making a buck and he will do favors for people if given the opportunity especially for scumbags like Scott Lazarus who has cheated on his wife multiple times. The only reason she stays is because he's so corrupt she's afraid she will lose her kids. This is the world of Park Estates residents. Send your kids to the expensive schools not for a good education but so they can network. Fucking sick what goes on in Delong's neck of the woods. Let's keep it there in park estates and not in DC.

An obvious ploy by the Suja to further her political ambitions. The LAST thing we need is another "Lowenthal" heading to Sacramento. And DeLong just sees this as buying a favor from the Suja and cementing his voting bloc. I feel very sad for my hometown seeing very few councilmembers really doing their jobs out of love for the city rather than love of themselves.
With all the problems in the State and the City I can't imagine ANY citizen being stupid enough to vote for Any of the lowenthals. They have actively supported most EVERY THING that has brought our City and State down to near complete financial collapse. Any voter would have to be a Moron if they didn't vote for ANY ONE who opposed a lowenthal. Any One would be a better choice. Well, not Anyone.
Laura Richardson is far worse than any other politician ever to have Long Beach beside her name. She disgraces LB on the National Stage.

I hear what the Truth had to say. These people manipulate the system in order to serve their best interests. I know of a man who dated a wife in the Park Estates area 2 years ago. They had a 2 year relationship built on mutual trust, respect and real love. From what he told me, she was a really good person in a tough situation, and he thought if she was unhappy her unhappiness would be reflected upon her children so he hung in there because he didn't want that to happen. Her husband was the gentleman you mentioned, Scott Lazarus. Do you know what he did? After cyberstalking this man on the internet for 2 years, even getting into his facebook account, Scott, who is a friend and neighbor of Gary DeLong, threatened to take her kids from her if she left him to be with the man she loved. Knowing he is friends with Delong and can manipulate the court system, and knowing that judges don't care who their decisions affect during the divorce proess, it really left her with no options. She was forced by Scott Lazarus to file false police reports with the Long Beach Police Department and then was forced to file a restraining order on completely false pretenses. During the hearing he even forced her to commit perjury as well. All things that could land her in jail. That's how much Scott Lazarus truly loves and respects his wife. He cheated on her multiple times yet he humiliated her because she just wanted to be happy in life but she was afraid to lose her kids so she complied out of fear. They say birds of a feather flock together. No question Scott Lazarus and Gary DeLong come from the same mold. I know "The Truth" doesn't want Gary to reach DC but things catch up to people in the long run and his true character will shine through whether elected or not. It would be nice to keep these kind of people out of power but you just have to hope and pray there's a God and he'll make things right.

It's amazing how DeLong's only real claim to his popularity in this race is the amount of contributions he's received. Of course, he's raised more money than Lowenthal because the people donating to his campaign are business owners and people of wealth. I'm sure the number of people who have contributed to Lowenthal's campaign is greater than DeLong's. I can back DeLong in his support of small businesses but what about values, character and integrity? I can support what Mr. Scape posted because I even heard Gary's friend, Scott Lazarus, even cheated on his wife when she was pregnant with another married woman which destroyed that marriage. It's amazing that Delong would go to great lengths to support a philanderer, and since I know they are friends, and probably no doubt provide business referals to each other, there is no doubting the authenticity of the claim.

Long Beach is Laura Richardson country. De Long will have a tough time proving that he can be as unethical and unworthy of the public trust as what pass for Democrats in Long Beach these days. Alan L is far closer to the bottom of the food chain thus more likely to be all Long Beach families think they deserve.

Maybe getting either one of them out of Long Beach is a good thing for Long Beach. I'm sure Long Beach will experience a financial fallout, if they haven't already, after DeLong's short term business dealings (band aids over the long-term issues are due). I'm sure he wants out to avoid the fallout that will be associated with it. I just really think we need more character people in politics and less deep pocketed people. Best candidate for the job. If Laura is it, I hope she wins.

Then why don't you run for a political seat? Oh... because you like to talk as if something means a lot to you, when it doesn't have any effect on your life whatsoever, and you could actually care less, and that means you have no character, so you can't run. Got it.

I believe Miranda would vote republican if said republican was honorable and not just wealthy. These people crave power more than they truly care about the issues. They only care about the issues that affect them and not everyone else. Sarah Palin believed she had a foreign policy because she was governor of a state that bordered Russia. If you could support that ticket in anyway versus Obama, you're nuts.

Of course, Miranda would Vote Republican if she can process information. She lives in California. State and Local Democrat pols have betrayed California families on so many levels that we have NO CHOICE but to hold our noses and Vote Republican.

Which Vice Mayor is best suited to navigate the impending LB Municipal Bankrutcy? It will be easier for Garcia as his Union ties don't run as deep as most on the Council?

Once the Unions they got screwed and that the Lowenthals etc. etc. etc. over promised them money in exchange for Campaign Support that they KNEW no amount of taxes in LB could coverI think most of those pols will be fleeing in the night rather than facing the Union members wrath.

Mr. Rich,
In reponse to your question about why I don't run and in response to your assumption that I have no character because you seem to believe I don't stand for any issues. Let it be known I am a mother of two children ages 10 & 12. I can't ditch my responsibilites of child raising like these wealthy republicans or polticians in general pursuing the issues that truly matter to them. The only thing that matters to them are their own self interests, leaving the responsibility of being true fathers to their wives who make the family work, and furthering their business interests by increasing their cash flow. They don't care about the issues. All they care about are themselves. Go ask the wives who fraudently give a face to their decency why their husbands truly run for office. Sorry you contributed money to a republican with no character or maybe you just fit the description I provided perfectly.

Daily Horoscope for May 23

Scorpio

You're in a very romantic and sentimental state today. You're also feeling quite sensitive and vulnerable, so you won't want to be around anyone you find abrasive or aggressive. If you meet someone for the first time now you'll think they're wonderful and your relationship will always involve putting them on a pedestal. But don't be too idealistic. They are human, remember!
