Any Objection to forming a new Livestock Show in LaPorte?

Many people have expressed concerns about the current citation with the La Porte Rodeo Association. I have read each and every posting from "La Porte Livestock Show and Rodeo" on this Topix site.(Very nice site, By the way) Seems to me, the consensus of the people want change. Why don’t you guys form a committee and start from scratch. I have listened to many individuals that have expressed interest and concerns about how things are currently being ran. The main concern I have is What is best for the kids. They need to continue to have a show rather it be controlled by one group or the other. The past board members are upset about losing voting rights etc. they want a change. I am so happy that the community has come together to support our youth. The kids of the La Porte chapter 4H and FFA deserve to show and not have the integrity of the show compromised.

Why would the new association be any different from the old. The same people would be involved some how. I have watched these folks ruin this show for over 10 years. And yes I was very involved at one time and finally gave up because I got NO results.
At one time La Porte could show at Pasa. but did not like they way it was run so they started this show. Now people have been caught stealing! Why is anyone surprised?

My opinion is you should keep the same association and clear out the board that is there now. It doesn't make sense to change when it is the people that are the problem. Doesn't matter what who did or didn't do. There is a lack of faith in this board. Elect a new board and the Association will make it. Keep the same board members and the Association will die a slow death.

Ya'll can beat the bushes til you're blue in the face, but the fact remains....NOONE...NOONE wants to volunteer and take the time out of their lives to help and work. I've been and seen it .... over the past years they've needed help and maybe 1 or 2 parents came and helped, but it's usually the same people, taking the time to show up and put time in....stop trashing and join and make a difference, BUT making a difference doesn't mean "running at the mouth", it means coming out to the meetings and volunteering your time to put on the cookoff and livestock show to help the kids!

Yea, well, with that kind of response to my opinion, I don't see myself as jumping right in there to help. Maybe this association is just a bunch of hardasses that can't get past anger.

My response wasn't harsh, it was about taking action, and getting involved...!

My opinion that the present association be kept and the present board be replaced is met with "stop trashing and join and make a difference", by not running at the mouth". You should choose your words more careful if they aren't meaning what you want them to mean. I was not trashing anyone just stating an opinion about others that decided to lay down with dogs and got fleas.

WRONG!! You are absolutely WRONG about no one being willing to step up and help! We are NOT willing to step up as long as this current board feels the need to stay in place. This SHOULD be a common sense issue...just like when the "Treasurer" moved out of town, her kids could not show in OUR show, but would NOT give up her position, OR ALLOW ANYONE ELSE TO HELP! NO ONE on the current board thought anything was strange about that!
There are plenty of people who have been trying to step up for years, and WERE SHUT OUT! One lady was even dubbed the "Geraldo Rivera of La Porte" by a CURRENT board member, because she tried to speak up! This board only labeled her a "troublemaker"!
FOR GOODNESS sake people - STOP trying to convince people no one tried to PREVENT THIS SITUATION! YOU, the current board members CHOSE to ignore the signs...so now, at least step up and take SOME responsibility instead of continuing to whine about no one wanting to help. That board could likely be replaced by past members who NO LONGER HAVE KIDS INVOLVED, in a heartbeat!

YOU sound like the board members have sounded the last few years! WHI IS IT SO HARD TO UNDERSTAND THIS --- PEOPLE TRIED TO STEP UP, WERE SHUT OUT - AND THEN WOULD NOT GET INVOLVED BECAUSE OF THE CURRENT BOARD !!!

You know, it is sad though because I have to use 2 HANDS to count the number of people I know of who have stolen money from KIDS! SAD isn't it? One of them is on probation for 10 years. I'll guess we'll have to wait and see about this one.

My response is from La Porte, Lomax to be precise. No children in 4H or FFA. Just truly concerned with crimes against children. I would spend my time rallying the members opinions and votes and not worry about anyone else. Then replace the board. They have fleas.

And I bet you would be right the way the posts have gone. The best defense is an offense. I sure hope the association stands intact and the present board is replaced. There are too many knowledgable people that have posted on this forum for the public not to have gotten a very good ideal where the problem. There is a way to get people interested again and willing to volunteer. This association can put it back together again.

Rumor has it this individual was also a "host parent" to a child and now is harassing and threatenting if they open their mouth. Rumor also has it the Harbor is telling this youth to keep quite.

This child has appeared to me to be deeply hurt by this as this family took them in, did well by them, then turned on them when they realized there is a problem.
