Ok, but why the hell are people painting their houses bright purple/green/orange/pink to begin with? Is this normal in Mexico?

I get it,but I don't want to have to approve my house color with the city either. It would make me angry. So I would say I want to vote no!

West Covina is taking a big stand here. Ban poor taste and become a San Marino or allow everything under the sun and become an El Monte.

We did not have any problems here in the past concerning house colors. Everyone had taste and would never embarrass themselves with garish colors. Now we get color pallets straight out of Mexico, who tend to think bright pink and puke green are fabulous for the neighborhood.

Yes... this very normal...what a lame and uneducated question to ask!!! It is just as normal as the METH homes found with runaway 17 year old kids in Glendora!!

As a WC resident I think there are more important issues to be concerned about.

Many years ago I lived next to a house that the residents painted purple, no they were not Mexican but were African American. Unfortunately they ran a dope house, and also terrorized the neighborhood by breaking in when the neighbors (including us) were at work.

I have seen pink and lime green around over the years. I think the color of ones home is a personal issue, and should not be dictated by others.

tell me how does this become a race issue?!?! did you even view the whole story?? did you even see the guy pictured?? he is not from mexico, and from the American flag he is sporting and his age, i'd bet he is a vet as well!!! seems like we are still in the '50's, i am surprized that people are not pushing for segregated bathrooms, drinking fountains, eateries, public transportation, schools and the like, people with race issues are either very ignorant or very stupid .....

I'd be happy if Sotelo wouldn't have parked his plumber's truck in front of the house all the time - brings down the class of the neighborhood.

I already have a neighbor that watches everything I do. I don't need the city telling me what color I can or cannot paint my house. If they are going to subsidize the cost of the paint, that MAY be a different story. I'm thinking of painting a lime green, but if they pay for the paint, I will paint a lovely dove gray...

What? Get our grammer corrected. First, this has nothing to do with Mexico moron. Chester Britt is not from Mexico but is as white as the day is bright. He has a choice and did what he wanted to do. So stop already.

Another law-abiding moron. Just how does Mexico come into the picture when you have a white man standing in front of his property sporting his American Flag?

I'm so glad I don't live in West Covina anymore. It started with the "Beautification Laws" in the 1980s and now has graduated to house colors. In a drought, the city has to make sure its residents don't have brown lawns, and now they are going after paint colors?

If that's the most important thing on Robert Sotelo's work list, maybe it's time to pack it up and do something else, sir.

In the article it says several residents have asked about a color ban would "several residents" be more than 10. Who are these several residents who have decided that their are some colors they don't like, I don't like bright yellow & blue like the new Best Buy, or bright red, or pink of any shade can we ban those colors. Will this ban also apply to businesses in west covina Can we ban those hideous color combination of the Edwards theater or the ugly colors of the West covina high school . I don't know how West Covina has ended up with such a large number of idiots in their city government, they're reducing the transit system confiscating trash bins and now want to have color control. A house sold here for $279,000, and the these city jerks continue to put restrictions on West Covina resident's eventually nobody's going to want to buy or live or own a business in West Covina if this sort of nonsense continues. Hopefully the next election will rid West Covina of these clowns
