If you go to Behringer as well as the fields at LM Regional, the baseball fields are continuously getting worse. If you look at the fields where the infield transitions to outfield (dirt meets grass) there is almost a "ramp" like condition where the kids come up on a baseball and the ball launches into their face - seen it many times and major concern, now have to have teach the kids to stay back from area or get in front on the dirt to field the ball to save their face. We have brought up with league as well as city and it is not a simple fix. It would take a large piece of equipment to level that area and then replant grass, etc. City doesnt have the money for things like this and baseball leagues dont either. What I dont understand is the adult softball leagues pay to rent the fields, organized baseball and softball teams pay nightly to rent the fields for practice - why dont they allocate some of that money to improving the fields? All in all - LM field are about a 6 or 7 out of 10 compared to other surrounding city parks who are about 3 or 4's.

It would have been cheaper to give every La Mirada household a season pass to Soak City in Buena Park (and demanded a number jobs at Soak City for La Mirada youth for the purchase) and used the blown millions to fix up what we already own, including the pathetic and dangerous baseball fields at Behringer.

One major question: how did so many City councilman get the impression it was government's role to provide its citizens with a water park like Splash of all things? What am I missing here?

You know Matt more people might take you seriously if everything that came out of your mouth was not so sarcastic and scathing.

The fields at Behringer are in dire need of being leveled. The sprinklers are easily 6-8 inches below the infield and the drop off is atleast that much. Such a fine league who has the parents who are willing to help out, only to be told not to because a city employee would get upset. Upset for what? Having his job done 10 times better by a VOLUNTEER. The cities idea of maintaining the fields is doing a quick dry drag and pushing all of the dirt towards the out field behind first and third bases and watering for 5 minutes. I don't want to take anyones job I just want my kid playing on a safe field. It is not like Behringer is behind some trash dump, The place has an electronic sign for christ sake. It is a becon for the city.

Why should any one have to pay for the fields I`m Sick of this city thinking that the people that live here should have to carter to them. Just look around this city. They can fix this probem By gettig off there ass and start at the old SAFEWAY and renting it out or have it tore down this city needs to carter to the people here first! or Cut there pay

Spoken like a true La Mirada snob. You know, gang members have the same mentality when it comes to their territory. For your info, I shop in La Mirada so my tax dollars are just as responsible for the parks as yours are.

How exactly are you contributing other than complaining? By the way, are trying to act illiterate, or can you just not spell? Maybe you should worry less about sports and more about education.
