They will never have a cure because if they did, it would put them out of business..the way they make their money is to keep people alive...but sick.

Not mention how some gay men don't see HIV as deadly anymore.

As the paper points out, the researchers are a long way from producing a vaccine. This is just a new avenue to explore after having hit so many dead-ends.

To those people, gay or straight, who think otherwise, I have one question. What kind of funeral do you want?

HIV is just as deadly now as it ever was and with MDR variants starting to emerge (another reason to overhaul healthcare - but I digress) it is in fact getting deadlier.

Will "they" ever come up with a "cure"? Oh yes! Absolutely! Because some company that is not making HIV drugs will want to make profit. Greed really is a very powerful motivator.

The best fact to come out of HIV is that research into fighting it has lead to incredible understanding of many other auto-immune diseases, helped us understand the bodies responses to medications, helped us to understand cancer better and the list goes on and on and on.

I'm very happy that researchers at Scripps have found an antibodies that prevent HIV from moving into AIDS (a technical term for end-stage HIV disease). I'll be happier when they find a "cure".

they will never have a cure for ANY fatal disease. It would cost them too much in bonus money to solve the problem. Their pocketbooks rely on them keeping us alive, but sick, and in need of their expensive "medicines".

Any progress fighting AIDS is cause for celebration.
