"Battin' me around" - says it all right there. I think you might have SDS. You figure it out.

Why settle for a mere clue when I can just tell ya: I think it was unfair of you to have called his statement "a very racist remark". I'm flat out against racism, which I'd define as making negative generalities about a race, for example. But you and I differ perhaps irreconcilably on whether stating the ethnicity of a *specific* person is "racism".
<quoted text>
Yes, and there's still an Italian mafia, and Chinese crime warlords, and white supremicists, and Russian hackers, and Nigerian bank scammers... but the guys who did this were Hispanic gangsters (or so we're told). No one can change that fact except Michael Jackson's dermatologist, but he didn't get to the scene on time.
<quoted text>
So's Cicero. Think of all the money you could have saved. I mean, yeah, it would be satisfying to vote against Nancy Pelosi, but that only happens once in 2 years.

By your paper thin definition of racism, they (ahem)--*we*-- grow like grass in a lawn. By mine, there aren't so many of *them*(and I'm not included in my own definition).

Yup. Lily white metropolitan Chicago.

You mean out in Frisco all the people, like, Live? TOGETHER? You have NEIGHBORHOODS? No way!

How about logic with a twist of humor?

No, that would be Thanksgiving at my mother in law's. Thanks for reminding me. Groan.

Just to be clear, I spent 23 years as a resident of the 23rd Ward of Chicago, then on to Berwyn for 10, then bought in Lyons and spent 9 years there until I moved to the bay area. Never said I lived in San Francisco. Go ahead and dump on the whole bay area with your surmisings, I really don't care. But I know a racist attitude when I see one, having lived among it for 33 years. If those who are guilty can't handle that, not my problem.

Ha, just have to look at his posts here this past summer and fall. Folks with SDS just can't help themselves, sadly.

Ugh how sad to read about this, thanks for posting. Time for some perimeter property lighting to deter these jerks perhaps. Hope it gets better out there - good job by the police departments, collectively.

I'm sure perimeter lighting will do a lot of good to deter all these daytime breakins. NOT! BTW Neecy, I think you may have PE.

Well, it will not get better. Lyons Police Department lost one officer due to budget cuts, and will lose the part-time officer Jan. 1st. 2010. The village is still looking to cut another two officers after that.

Break in occurred on Warsaw Avenue last week - allegedly between 9 and 11 am. What is our Manager doing to get this on Channel 6 and perhaps sent out fliers? How about the new interim Police Chief: I do recollect hearing him expound on the importance of citizen awareness and involvement...another Lyons appointed official we pay who is - once again - all talk and no walk?
After all, when folks were getting mugged on the North Side of Chicago, the CPD made sure that the word got out. Surely Chief Boggs - coming from the CPD and all - is comfortable with getting warnings out...or not.

I heard on the radio that last week, Downers Grove had an automated phone alert go out to all residents. Does the Lyons PD have this capablility?

OK, Neecy, I'll just summarize the things you've educated me on:

1. You're a racist if you refer to arrested gangsters from the Spanish Cobras, or with names like Cortez and Granados as "Hispanic gangsters". You're also racist if you don't think that's racist.

2. I'm an example of racism because you know it when you see it.

3. Chicagoland doesn't have "diversity".

4. Your Bay area neighborhood populated with 87% of the same kind of people is "diversity".

5. I have a short clinton.

6. Perimeter lighting prevents brazen daytime home invasions by gangsters.

Got it. Let me study this awhile before it makes sense. Drunk.

Thanks, abc. What I hope I've succeeded in doing here is injecting some humor onto the forum, which used to be a real cage fight arena of partisan mudslinging and campaign politicos hurling smears and vicious innuendo from behind anonymous pseudonymns. I think we're a little more united here.

I fight for my positions, and at the same time try to entertain with humor in the hopes we can find common ground in running our city. It's fun.

And all this under my real name, by the way.

Daily Horoscope for December 11

Aries

A certain person is being very feisty and fiery today. You may also suspect that they're looking for an argument and will provoke you until you rise to the bait. Trigger points include shared finances, sex and any topic that is currently supposed to be off-limits. You'll probably discover that you want to clear the air, but don't get carried away.
