I agree 100%. No problems with me when it comes
to transparency.
Please advise me if you know if we are receiving revenue from the landfill. I really would appreciate it...many thanks.
Look forward to
Francine,

No revenue except that that is still on the tax rolls if any. Plan would be for future use.

Your plan for administration of cleanfill site is excellent. However, when the Village de-annexed and re-annexed the Reliable site, they voluntarily relinquished oversight powers. Also, you may want to FOIA the CERCLA Preliminary Assessment Report on the Former Material Service Yard 18 LPC 0311715101 from the US EPA. Report was issued October, 2008 and details environmental issues and public health and environmental consequences of leaving site unremediated.
Elizabeth,

I was not aware of that and find it shocking that a village could give up all powers of oversight.(Unless it was an under-the-table deal)

I will look into that unless you can provide a copy of the ordinance or conveyance.

As for the EPA, no need to FOIA – Super Funds are still available and could be used on this brown-site if need be.(requires matching funds) Lyons once cleaned-up a brown-site on Harlem that worked well. I was surprised that the site where Culver’s is was not more contaminated.

In any case, the new board would serve well to look into this issue as soon as possible to see if there is any potential financial relief possible to deal with their bond mess.

Have a good day!

Where is the money going to come from, to pay the electric and the heating bills?
We all know that the state allows municipalities
a certain amount of money for these bills, but one can be guaranteed, they are not going to cover an additional 45,000 square feet.
Just think ahead to the winter time.
All the time that has to be spent on plowing the snow and maintaining the grounds. Would love to know how many man power hours it will take. Let us not forget the Riverwalk. Yes, it is so beautiful..no doubt about that...but how much money and work goes into covering those grounds.
We are not a wealthy community.
We can't find a way to pave the streets with new asphalt or care for our run down alleys.
Like a very dear friend, who passed away exactly 5 years ago, would say "Like putting pearls on a pig". Oh, how right she was...my friend.
Maybe someone can tell me what bond counsel we will use for the 3,000,000.00.Along with that
answer, could someone pls tell me what interest rate we will be paying and to what bank?
So many questions, so little time.
There are times when my mind wonders and thinks, could we be part of Ponzi/Madoff scheme...or maybe
AIG...or a Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac? Many great minds and influential people were taken to the cleaners. Just a thought for the day?
Have to get back to baking some biscotti...now that my cover has been blown..it's much easier to

Ciao..Ciao !

You can twist this all you want..the bottom line is we elect the officials and they will take an oath and have to work to get us out of this mess not create a bigger mess by bankrupting us!!! Let's give Chris and his people a chance to rise above this and get us moving forward.
The elected officials still in office ALREADY placed us into insolvency - bankruptcy is relief and protection from the consequences of that insolvency while the new officials get us back on track financially.

By Village of Lyons Code, is there enough of parking places per sq. buiding footage. Maybe we can close them down for not enough parking. It's a thought

Word has it that they may want to build a 10 story parking garage, which would solve the parking issue not only for the Village but also for the townhouses that are going to be built on Smith Park. Has anyone else heard that story?

Tried to watch the last meeting on Channel 6.
Guess what?... parts are visible, and parts have just the audio playing.
Same old story, "We had problems with the video
equipment". 17,000,000.00 dollars and we can't get a decent tape of the meetings....and they want another 3,000,000.00.

Heard you will not be able to FOIA a copy of the infamous tape.. You will be denied .
So, if anyone is thinking about filling out a FOIA request, "Forgetaaaa bout it"

A great script for "COLD CASE". in 20 years...

Here we go again with the "conspiracy thinking".

I believe that system is still being tweaked. It's a very high tech and sophisticated system. It may take a little bit to get it set up completely. I know you want to go down the "oh they must have something to hide again" theory, but it's not like that. I'll bet by today you'll see that everything is running fine.

Just take a chill pill.

Dictionary defines "Conspiracy of Silence"
An agreement to say nothing about a certain matter or matters.
Sounds like the definition for Lyons Village Board
Meetings.

Too many trustees have taken chill pills, that is the reason we are in a financial mess. You all
should have tweaked the packets of information afforded you days before the meeting. But that would have called for reading and understanding. Instead you nodded your heads and gave them the green light to "Go and pay the bills".
Pls don't blame the hired help...that gets a bit old. They owe their allegiance to the taxpayers and their own work..not to a political party !

PS: I know who you are, your Tweak gave you away.
Your comments about me are taken as a compliment,
means the mind is still working.

I know this is off topic, but you all seem so well-informed, so my apologies in advance for bringing up something outside of politics--does anyone know what happened to the Super Wal-Mart that was supposed to be built on 47th? I don't know who else to ask....

I have a question....When does Getty take office? I have a neighbor that piles garbage up on their property. And at first there was mice, next came the possumes, and now there is raccoons here tearing into the garbage all the time. All of the surrounding neighbors have tried talking to the property owner who knows of the critters and doesn't care. I have personally called the ordinace dept., crown disposal, for years now and NO ONE will do anything about it. I don't know where else to turn to on this matter. If you have any ideas please let me know. Critters are dangerous and a health hazard.

Let me ask you... What responsibility does the Village have when it comes to wild animals in the area? It's the home owner's responsibilty to secure their garbage cans. This is the reason why the Village went with the garbage cans that they have. If garbage is overflowing out of the can, causing animals to get to it then it sure isn't the Village's fault.

But then again you were probably promised that in order to get your vote.

Good Luck!

These residence aren't using the cans from the village. They are literally throwing garbage bags on the ground. And this is in plain view from the street. This has nothing to do with promised votes and everything to do with not enforcing the village laws! When you hire employees who can not and will not do their jobs then they need to be replaced with men and women who would be eager to do the job and do it right.

I just posted this because:

A) I wanted to be the 1000 post on this thread.
B) The new Lyons city hall is really swank. How much did that gosh darn thing cost ?
C) I strongly encourage Lyons PD to crack down on all lowlifes and anybody walking down the street with their pants sagging.
D) Why is it when you go to the IDOC link that shows the local sex offenders that Lyons has a disproportionate amount of those scumbags? What gives ? How/why could Lyons have so many ?

Daily Horoscope for February 12

Capricorn

With the friendly Moon in your eleventh house of associates tonight, you might be persuaded to go out and have some fun. After all, even the super responsible Capricorn has to have fun sometimes. You may find that amusements cost more than you would like to pay, so set a limit on what you will allow yourself to spend. Don't let anyone talk you into doing anything you are uncomfortable with.
