Well, yesterday's announcement by Obama will consume a bunch of time this Sunday as most preachers around here rail against gays, Democrats, Obama, the government and how we have to "take it back" (I still don't know who we have to take it back from despite asking several times !), and then in future Sundays, how Obama is going to force Churches and clergy to marry gays against their will, and how the faithful had better vote against him in November, no matter what other hardships that vote may bring on in their families, since God is most concerned with gays, and Sodom and Gomorrah loom large in the future for us if we do not mend our ways. The sermons will be long and hot for the next several weeks.... All Obama did around here is stir the fire under the pot of hatred for him. Since Obama can't change the law without congress and the chances of congress changing the law are less than zero, what was really accomplished ?(other than making Timbuck eat crow that is !)

This is my personal view on marriage. Marriage is a lifetime commentment to your loved one and God. Not to any cult(religion), or any color, or a particular sex. When I said my marriage vows, I said them in front of my friends, family and god.

Its my opinion, that obama did himself great harm with his statement yesterday. The Hispanic vote he was counting on will take a BIG hit. I fear he also "lost" North Carolina in the process as well...which was one of the "swing" states.

Agree with you. Many Christians will speak out. Votes will not be there but it's out and he cannot change it now. Can't put toothpaste back into tube. He had to do something because his Vice President had already gone public ahead of him to look important. Why do they not just sty out of it?Nothing to him.He gains money for campaign.

Obama won NC last time, but there wasnt any talk in the media of him winning it again...... on the other hand, VA., hadnt gone to the dems since 64', and the polls there look good for Obama. it probably has something to do with the womens vote. why do you think that all of a sudden, people are going to abandon him? because he believes in equal rights for everyone.?? right now 49% of americans support gay marraige. those numbers have climbed in recent years(never to return to full bigotry) so mabey you ought to try joining us here in the 21 st century!!! your grandkids will definately be considerd bassackwards bigots if they cant accept gay folks......my guess is they will accept them whether you want them to or not. kind of how I have different politics than my grand parents did, becase we lived in very different eras. last time I checked, romney was in the 20% range with latinos.... bush got 43% of the latino vote and squeeked by in his 04' reeelection bid. and romneys latino numbers WONT go up!! mabey you should check in with reality before making huge sweeping assumptions like that!! are you comfortable with a black president?? something tells me, you are not.

Being from California, one would have THOUGHT you would have realized that Hispanic vote is what kept the gay union issue at bay, SEVEAL TIMES, until activist judges lent a helping hand. How many times was it voted down?? 3-4?? every map I have seen of swing states (this election cycle) has included North Carolina (including CNN and ABC) so just what sources are you using besides the DailyKos?

I'm no fan of big banks and Wall Street. They ARE out of control. I was against bailing their butts out, by Bush and Obama. I just can't stand Obama's railing against them & then sucking up to them for money. If you want to do something about the banks, DO IT! Don't talk. We listen to the rhetoric, but where are the prosecutions of wall street? The president has failed to pin a single top finance exec on criminal charges since the economic collapse. Federal prosecutions overall have increased dramatically in such areas as civil rights and health-care fraud. But according to the Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse, a data-gathering organization at Syracuse University, financial-fraud prosecutions by the Department of Justice are at 20-year lows. They're down 39 percent since 2003, when fraud at Enron and WorldCom led to a series of prosecutions, and are just one third of what they were during the Clinton administration. Those numbers don’t jive with the jive talk we’re getting from Obama about Wall Street and bankster abuses. He's in their back pocket, so don't expect much from him.

I hope some heads roll......dont you??

I dont think constitutions should be used to restrict peoples rights, only to expand them.......that is why Bush and santorum heard crickets when they proposed a US constitional amendment banning gay marriage in 2004. I liken it to lincoln(or A.J., to be fair) proposing that we add a constituitonal amendment to MAKE SURE black people can be kept as slaves forever!! the whole notion is absurd!!

puff of logic wrote: <quoted text> There is a bright side to this monsieur Belmont hill Mitt. Although a baby step it truly shows that change is acceptable. That surely will open many more closed doors for americans. Like legalized marijuana, and other self help herbs. Americans are learning that even with forced efforts to resist, all must succumb to "Mr Change." Survival is dependent on change. legalizing gay marriage and legalizing marijuana are two issues that have turned drastically in my lifetime..... there wasnt a peep from anyone in charge, about gays being able to legally marry, back in 1990 0r 1980. and there we no states prior to california legalizing "medicinal marijuana"......notice the word "mari" is the prefix. ironic!! since then (1996), 17 states allow prescriptions to be written by doctors for medical marijuana......truly a step forward. for the chronically ill. in california, colorado, New mexico and montana....it is easier to get a 'recommecdation" for medical marijuana. menstral cramps or fibro myalgia is good enough. for me?? I have had a slipped disk in my back since I was 15.. it is painfl and marijuana realaxes the musculature around the vertibrate more than any synthetic drug could. many people prefer marijuana to synthetic prescription drugs JUST because of this.....that IT WORK BETTER.... and for cancer patients who need to eat??? and cannot because they are on chemo drugs?? bon appetite.!!

They're constantly using Gay terms that I'd never heard before & didn't even know what they were until I googled them. If they're not Gay, they've been watching alot of Gay Porn & why would you be interested in that, if you weren't Gay?

Unreal wrote: <quoted text> Sassy, I think the comments, "gays should be allowed to be as miserable as straights" is just an old (probably bad) joke in this case. I know it is for me, or I would have done something about it long before now. I hope I never have to go the divorce route. I have family going through one now, and it is amazing how ugly it can get between people who once loved each other! It doesn't have to be, mine wasn't. But, I know that's very rare. I'm like you, I've never understood why they have to be & I was determined that mine wasn't going to be. Mine was more like dissolving a joint business venture in a calm & rational way, but my Ex was not one to show emotion in public, very emotional in private, but cool, calm & collected in public. He scolded me once for jumping up & yelling at a Car Race. BTW, I was just one of thousands that did the same thing, at the same time, but he didn't. Lol. I never went to another Car Race with him, needless to say. But, I did learn to be less emotional & more reserved when I was with him in public. Come to think of it, maybe little things like that is what chipped away at the marriage, too. After all this time & I'd never really thought about that before. But, I still remember it. Amazing.
