La Crescent couple convicted of killing neighbor's dog

What a shame that people like that get off with a slap on the hand. Dogs are family. You killed a member of their family. Shame on you two!!

What a shame that pet owners let their animal crap in their neighbors yard!

Stupid yuppies who worry only about their precious lawn. They KNEW what they were doing...I don't buy the "we didn't think it would actually die" excuse.

The Bailey's probably got tired of walking through dog 5H1T in their own back yard and having to pick up trash after it rummaged through it. Why should they have to build a fence to keep their neighbor's dog out of their yard?
The dog's owners should be sentenced to 1000 hours of community services picking up dog5h1t at local parks, maybe then they would be responsible pet owners.

As much as I love dogs...especially ones named Sadie...it really is the dog owners fault...if you own an animal you are responsible to keep it safe and clean up after it...

Both sides of the issue are right and both are wrong. The dog's owner let him run loose and apparently didn't control it. The neighbors had to deal with the effects of the dog coming on to their property. The dog's owner had his pet murdered. The neighbors thought they had the right to destroy someone else's property.

Nobody wins on this one.

Exactly, if my kids went into the neighbors yard, crapped in their lawn, tore up their trash and stole their food and they continued it for years, it would be my fault. I'm not saying it's license to kill, but the dog owners are not just victims here. This outcome is their fault in a big way.

In the summer I have neighborhood dogs crapping in my yard too. I've told one of the dog owners and she claims it's not her dog. But I've watched it, even read it's tag. What rights do I have against a irresponsible dog owner? It's a nice dog, don't want to hurt the animal. But I sure am sick and tired of stepping in their dogs crap in my yard.

Light up a smoke in the wrong place-felony charges, dispatch a loose pooch for repeatedly crapping in your yard-felony charges. Shoot up the neighborhood in a drive by-poor victim of society,plea bargain to misdemeanor.What a justice system we have!
Sadie should have been tethered. Owner irresponsibility pure and simple.

Fling it at their house with a waterballoon launcher. Seems fair to me...

Put a bunch in a box and mail it to them...flaming bag of dog poop on their porch...Do they have a garden? Rub it on their vegetables...Do they have a firepit? Toss a bunch in there(just don't be outside at their next bonfire)...and lastly, if you're real daring,go take a number 2 right on their porch or sidewalk. Justice comes in many forms.

To me, a Yuppie is an educated, briefcase toting wall street wannabe. Thesespeople didn
t seem very educated or they would know the toxic effect of antifreeze. Also too bad they couldn't go through the authorties, and/or talk to the neighbors. Also the dog's owners lacked the foresight to realize this could happen.

The only one not a fault here is the dog that suffered a horribly painful death. RIP buddy.

How is god's name is a dog going to *know* not to return to the yard once it's gotten sick? It's an animal, people.... their mind isn't that broad or complex.

I believe reading your post made me a little bit dumber.

While I do not agree with killing a pet, I am tired of people that do not take responsibility for the actions or inaction. Since the dog feces belonged to the neighbor, I would have returned it to them in a bag, with a knock on the door.

"Excuse me, but your dog seems to have left this on my yard."

If that wasn't direct enough, some well placed feces in strategic locations on and in the neighbor's lawn, house, car, etc. may have driven the point home better.

I've watched people walk their dogs down the sidewalk in front of my home and when I see an owner who lets their dog do their business in my yard and not pick up that said business, I go out and follow that dog walker until they get home. Now I know where they live. I return later with lots of "business" and distribute it throughout their lawn, sidewalk, steps, and vehicle. I leave them a pleasant note stating next time please tend to your animal and don't leave their waste on my property, as it will be returned 10-fold each time!

How about communicating??? Talk to your neighbor if something is bothering you about their actions or lack of action.

If the neighbors were even correct about the nuisance dog there are other ways of handling it then by torture and killing. Their action speaks clearly of the corruption of society today. The problem (if it existed) is with the dog's owners and should have been handled through them and the law. The dog was being a dog. How can any sane person cause a living creature such pain? I pray the District Attorney seeks the maximum of the law to punish these selfish, uncaring animal killers!

As long as you have to pick up the dog's droppings anyway - why not return it to the dog's owner's on their front step/porch?
