Make the Pennsylvania gerrmander extinct

The way democracy is supposed to work is that citizens get to choose their elected officials.

One person, one vote has been hyjacked by politicians some time ago. The election process (I've stated for a very long time) is that I do not get to select a candidate. I just get to chose amongest those that have been provided.

I've also stated for the last 5 months the president has already been rigged by the system. It's McCain like it or not PERIOD! You wait and you see. It doesn't matter what the majority wants. Just a little too obvious for my tastes. A guy from the very bottom floats to the top in 30 days. COME ON!

November will show if I'm right. I don't want the guy that's for sure.. but the 'fix' is in and there is little say America has in that. Wait and see.

And what is this "Legislative Reference Bureau" anyway? Who says that they are going to do a better job? What would their directive be?

we need to have a national and statewide constitutional convention to get the power back from the political parties and elite in Washington (and the even more ellusive elite with the purse-strings who control the people in Washington.)

Here is a white paper showing how to use map data to measure a district's gerrymandering for comparison to any other district.

Argall's district is the most gerrymandered district in PA. It closely resembles the original gerrymander. Over the years Argall has quietly tailored his district to protect his seat. As the Skookil population dwindlesl, he expands in Berks. Watch out Lehigh county, here comes Dave Argall.

Given the track record of the legislature in passing legislation in a timely manner except when it is self serving like the "middle of the night pay raise" dare we get our hopes up that this bill has a chance to be passed in the time frame required for the next step in the process. In recent elections a number of people were sent to Harrisburg on the promise that they were going to straighten out all of the ills of government. We have been patiently waiting for action on those promises and this bill seems to be a step forward. It is incumbent upon all who supported the candidates, many of us crossing party lines to do so, to now let them know this is the type of legislation is what we have been waiting for. It would go along way in giving the voters some hope that good government is still possible in Pennsylvania..

This concept of gerrymandering is so repulsive to the democratic process that ALL politicians and their enablers, Dems or Reps, should be sent packing and their pensions and sources of funds cut off immediately.

There will come a day when honest citiziens will not longer respect nor tolerate the deteriorated democratic process and finally revolt because those whom they elect have long ago ceased respecting that same process. Perhaps this is why some of our slimy politicians want us to surrender our arms...? It could eventually get this bad. Tolerence only goes so far.

For many decades East Allentown in its entirety was part of the 131st State House district. But as the result of the most recent apportionment we can not say that anymore. East Allentown was divided between the 131st, 133rd, and 135th districts. If we look at the 1st Ward then the 132nd district comes into play.

Neither of these districts had a contested primary election this spring.

I ignore the daily habitual typos from the MCall. It is particularly amusing on the headlines... Such quality in journalism. Must be a new form of standard.
