Review: Texas 8 Ball

This place sucks royally...the bartenders are the rudest I've ever seen. The female waitstaff appear to think that they have been hired for thier good looks, but they all look like white trash. THe drinks are watered down, and the food is miserable. THe clientele varies from hip hop heads to little thug wannabe's. This place has a reputation for being a meat market, but it's even worse than that. My girlfriend was repeatedly hit on my sad sad men missing a few teeth. This place is overpriced and disgusting...save your money and go to Hooligan's or the Loophole.

It's a pool hall, dude. They've got a lot of nice, full-size tables. It's a lot better than Dusty's or JR Pockets.

This place really does suck! The worst ownership in the bar business. You think you are going to a pool hall, but its really a club. If your a girl and love being pursued sexually by every male in the building, with the opportunity of having something put in your drink then this is your place!

This place is pretty crappy... went to 8 ball to watch a UFC event. The place is overcrowded with cocky dumb frat boys who wait by the exit and try to pick fights with people leaving. The worst part is that the bar manager and the bouncers were standing tight by the dumb kids. It's a nice looking bar but it is run by some trashy people. I wouldn't recommend going to this place unless you are a douche bag and want to fight and go to jail.

.....What do you expect? They are all pretty trashy. Filled with pothead employess who are so drunk themselves they can hardly keep up with whats going on. Just a bunch of 30 something bartenders who can't find real jobs...and that goes for all the bars on the sqaure: LoopHole, Sweetwater, you name it. Dirty, Dirty, Dirty. So unless you're some skank looking to screw a bartender for free drinks, go elsewhere.

This place is a lot better now this fall (09'). They got rid of the old management which was what really sucked! The old manager used to hit on all the girls,he was gross. The thugs are gone, the music has changed that, thank god!
This is the best looking bar in town, with great drinks specials and lots of games. The other bars downtown are nice as well.

Place sucks, there is more managers on duty than bartenders. Rude,crapy,managers are pathetic!!! It take forever to get a drink and when u do u get the wrong one. SCUMBAG CITY go at ur own risk! Chance the owner/GM so getto overheard him say no BLACKS allowed WOW isn't this 2010.Rasist peps running that crap hole STAY AWAY!!!!

To tell you the truth I DO NOT recommend this bar to anyone. The staff is slow, incompetant, and full of BS. To all the performers out there DO NOT do business with them. They will cheat you out of your clothes if possible. IF you like to be felt up by one of the owners who has an apt for trying to rub you than this is your spot (he has no sense of personal space nor boundaries). And the management is full of it as well. Constantly walking around with their little head sets and the remarks stated on the microphone by them are DISGUSTING AND TASTELESS. The sexual remarks and noises that they make on the microphone are none other than a form of SEXUAL HARASSMENT!!! STAY AWAY!!!

I was thinking about going there to see a band. But after reading the reviews I will go elsewhere. Thanks for the advise.

It's easy to make an accusation to someone online that's pointless. If I said no blacks allowed, why would I employee black? Come on really? This post was written by someone I obviously threw out for acting like a fool inside my bar. If you can't act with common sense and you're rude to my staff, then yeah you can get out. You treat my staff with coutesy then you will have a good time here. Grow up and don't call people names because you don't know how to act in public.

So for those of you that have never worked in the bar business, managers and bouncers wear headsets so they can communicate with each other if there is a problem at the door, or a fight in the building. It's a way for us to fix a problme before it starts. As far as the comments on the microphone, IT'S A BAR, if you're too sensitive to listen to whats said stay home. We're not talking like we're at a porn store. Jokes are made, you don't like it, move on. And the owners, I seriously doubt you know who the owners are, so move on with that.

I've been around Denton for quite a while, and this place has done a complete 180 since the last time I was there. Much Much Better. Better music, better staff, better looking people. And they definitely have the best drink specials I've seen in a while. I would recommend this bar to anyone interested in a good time.

I've lived in Denton since I graduated in '95 and one thing I've never like is that all the bars really cater to college kids. Which was cool when I was in college, but now that I'm older I wanted to find a place for grown up to go and have a good time. Texas 8 ball was awesome. Good tables, felts need to be redone on a few tables, but balanced good. They had a good band and the specials were $2.50 longnecks on a Friday night. And there weren't any frat kids trying to pick fights, not 18 year old trying to score drinks, just a laid back place for people to hang out. I never went there when all these other people did, but it's cool form my point of view.

Another employee from 8ball having to try and cover up the fact that that is the worst bar in Denton. Funny how anything good said about this place comes from employees! Warning stay away!!!

I love this bar! free pool tournaments on tuesdays, which help me improve on my pool skills! The live bands have been really great! It is a lot more chilled out than it used to be. Also the place used to have a reputation for being ghetto, now I feel like this bar is no where near ghetto very clean fun environment. The whole time I was singing to most of the rock play list and love the jukebox. Overall I recommend this place to everyone!

Funny that this comment and the one from qwe talking about employee reviews comes from a manager named Scott who was fired for theft and not taking care of his bar. This guy closed down the bar and invited all his friends to come up and drink for free after hours. Former managers that were fired are the best people to get advice from. Nice Scott, nice.
