I have stayed at the Laughing Pines cabins on Ware Valley Road. They are wonderful! They are really clean, modern and very reasonable. Try it, I am sure you will like it.

I have worked at two hotels in Pigeon Forge. One was extremely nice and always well maintained. It was a higher end motel. The other was ok, but there were always people complaining about things, ususually maintenance related. I can say this, you don't always get what you paid for. My advice, don't stay anywhere that is right on the strip. It's usually cheaper to find a motel on a back street. Not miles off of it, usually on a street right behind the main drag.

I live in Sevier Co and I usd to love looking at the mountains and all the scenery, but I can barely see them now from all the damn cabins being built. If any of you ever go on Pittman Center rd, just past Catons Chapel School, there is a place that is called Paradise Mountain...there used to be nothing but rolling hill and now...CABINS...for heavens sakes how many people do they think can fill up all these places...soon there is going to be no view, only cabins. I still love living here....minus all the traffic, praise the lord for backroads, but it is getting harder to bare seeing all the beautiful nature God created and now man is tearing down...tell me I am wrong. I mean what happened to the sevier Co I used to know....which was not that long ago..Y'all should visit Cosby....now that is real mountain living...no traffic or tourists....Climb Mount Camerer...breath taking view and hike. Anyway I wish people would start petitioning all these cabins and chalets before our town loses what it is famous for.

Have you driven down Upper Middle Creek in the last year or two? They bilt dozens of those cookie cutter cabins, then couldn't get some kind of licensing that they needed. So now they stand vacant. I can't help but wonder... why don't they do something like donate them to HUD? They ruined the scenery, but they are already there. Why not use them?

well, the park tower inn rocked once again. we just spent a week there and the stay could not have been any better any where else.

I've never stayed there, but always heard that it is a nice place. I've also heard that Mainstay Suites is really nice. It's not right on the main road and it's on a big farm so it's quiet. Just stay away from anything named Family Inns or anything owned by Ken Seaton. Including The Grand .(Which it isn't)

What about the Best Western Plaza Inn located on the strip in P.F.? I am thinking of travling there with my young boys, without my husband (he will be out of town)....is this safe for me to do? I used to love this place as a kid, has it gotten that bad?

The hotels in Gatlinburg are a significant upgrade to those in Pigeon Forge. The Bearskin Lodge, the Hampton Inn, the Park Vista (very large convention hotel), and the Clarion Inn and Suites are all top notch and would work well in any city. Now if we could just get Ripley's to build their Great Wolf Lodge we would be set.

1 I use to work for the guy who owned this. He also owns The Toni, and MainStay. It's ok. Nothing grand though. It's right on the strip and it does have good parking. I would request not to be put into a room that faces the back though. The back has a nice view of the river, but it's right on the street and the lighting is not that great. |
My MIL cleans the rooms there. I'll give her the heads up on you guys liking it. She is always saying how much cleaner the rooms are there than any place she has ever stayed at. They have such high standards. |

Whatever you do, don't rent from Sunset Cottage Rentals! The owner is an ignorant hillbilly, just white trash. The place is a total rip off.

I stayed there while my water heater was being replaced a few months ago. Since I use to work in management at other motels, I'm one of those really picky people that notices everything. This place was the cleanest place that I have ever been to. A lot of places around here don't care, but it's obvious that this place still does. Your MIL and the others should be commended. I did tell the manager how pleased I was, but I wonder if they are like most hotels around here. They never pass on the good things, just the bad. Please thank your MIL for me. |

As a footnote the "new and improved" econo lodge (landmark Inn) next to starbucks on Winnfield Dunn HYW is not a good Location either, upon checking in in June I found a used syringe in my room and when i called asking for it to be removed they asked ME to bring it to them! Also the toilet backed up, towel racks fell from the walls, hair dryer malfunctioned AND THEN while we were out they changed all the room #'s (plates on the doors) so there were people wandering the halls looking for what was thier room!!!! Took us an hour to get back in our room! |

We did not stay at the Best Western Plaza Inn after finding out on trip advisor that they shared the indoor pool with the Family Inn next door. Not good!!!
Since I was traveling alone with my children, we went for a safer location. The Music Road Inn. It was great. The man checking us in was kind of rude when I asked him to move us to a new room. The had us on the 1st floor with our balcony next to the pool. My kids would never sleep! Once we got moved, it was awesome. The breakfast was great, the pool was great, the room was huge, clean. I looked at all the other hotels while we were out running around and I didn't see any that compared. We will stay at the Music Road Inn when we travel to Pigeon Forge. |

FYI Only!! I'm glad you enjoyed your stay with Music Road. BUT, on a safety note, the night clerk (female) was attacked by a crowbar weilding man approx. 2 years ago. All caught on tape. Also approx. 1 year ago they had a severe problem with bed bugs. Everyone who went in or out of that room wore protective clothing to keep from carrying the bugs out of there. I don't know if it was ever cleared up. |
