A certain hotel in Piegon Forge

I want to inform anyone going to Pigeon Forge not to stay at the Riveria. I stayed there with my family and it was the grossest place I have ever stayed at. First of all, the room wasn't even cleaned, it had dried up snot on the wall, the coat/clothes hanger on the wall was repaired with a piece of 2x4 nailed in the drywall and the airconditioner froze up and it was never fixed for our entire stay. The hotel wouldn't refund our money, nor put us in another room. This was my very first visit to Pigeon Forge and it didn't set very well considering I have heard a lot of good things about that place and Tennesse, so to have a hotel on the strip that was that nasty and the people who ran the hotel were extremely rude and hateful, even using profanity when I confronted them on the problems with our room was not a welcomed stay. If we ever go to Pigeon Forge, I will research the hotels before making a reservation and I highly recommend that anyone else, do the same. Sincerely, Unhappy visitor

ahhhh. sorry that happened to you. i have been there a lot over the years and i have never stayed in the same place twice. i have never had an experience like that at any of the hotels there. you just got a bad one and that really sucks.....it being your first time and all. go back and try again. the grand is pretty good and the holiday inn across the street from the grand is really nice. the last time i was there was for business and we were on the top floor. had great security. the elevator wouldn't even go to my floor if i didn't have my key card.

is that how you are when you go on vacation? |

its a redneck motel for hard working people |
|
well, you said they are rude.....not some are. i know when i go i leave the room in the same shape i would leave my house. the trash is in the can, the towels are in one pile in the bathtub, blankets are on the bed. no, i don't make the bed but i don't leave it or anything else in a shambles. |

WOW !!! so much talk about a little place ! I have been to piegon forge a few times like 4 to be exact, and looking over the above, I believe this started out about a certain hotel, not the whole city !!!! Every city I have been too, has its good ones and bad, dont judge a city or place by 1 hotel, For petes sake there is at lest 100 great ones for the 1 or two bad ! Living in Florida We have lots of tourist like hotels there are good ones and bad, however before anyone should judge or group all togther remember tourist spend money and money benefits you guess it your city and state, so maybe we all need to remember next time someone says something about what seems to be a bad hotel !
Did it occur to the Tourist blamer that maybe it was a unhappy employee, that snotty up the wall ??? or perhaps a child,???? |

Wow i am shocked by all these bad comments about our Tennessee. We moved here 5 years ago and go to Pigeon Forge about every other week-end and have had nothing but good experiences. i had never even heard of that hotel. We stay at the governors hotel and its great. We have enjoyed pigeon forge more than any where we have ever been. I think you get what you look for.

I am shocked also, we go to this area at least 3-5 times a year. I would not try the Grand though, it is not much better. We had a pretty bad experience there last Sept. We have stayed at some decent places in the area and the workers are always quite pleasant.

I am very sorry that you had a bad experience on your vaction to Pigeon Forge. We moved to this great area about 10 yrs ago from KY and have not seen anything wrong with the area, WE LOVE IT!!! What state/ tourist town doesn't have crime and trashy hotels? I agree that there are at least 100+ motels in Pigeon Forge and out of those you'll at least find 10% that will not meet your average standards. Next time google your search to find motels in the area and make sure that you look at ones that have pictures. But.... ALL motels/hotels put their best picture on the internet so just remeber that. Also some more advise is....remember you get what you pay for. So, if your wanting something nice you can stay in a cabin for almost as cheap as a hotel. I would check some of the cabin sites out also, they have great "last minute deals" as well as buy 2 nights get the 3rd free and buy 5 get the 6th free. Thats just a few pointers for the next time you adventure to The GREAT Smoky Mountains!!!!!

NO do not stay at that Motel 6 in Pigeon Forge. I saw a post where someone suggested it. You can hear every little noise known to man in that place. I stayed there one night last yr., because the hotel we wanted was booked for that one night. The lady across the hall from us came in around 2am, and she literally woke everyone up on that entire floor with her loud mouth. The walls there are paper thin.
The place was clean, but the fact that you can hear people in the room next to you sneeze is a bad sign. Believe it or not I really do like the Colonial House motel there in Pigeon Forge. The prices are very affordable, and they have an indoor pool as well. They have standard rooms all the way up to suites. I also like the Bearskin Lodge over in Gatlinburg. I go up there to visit atleast 2 times per yr. I will stay in a chalet at times, and I always use Chalet Village. I like the ones they rent out over in Cottage gardens. |
