I am moving to a new house and going with Dish TV not Direct. Dish offers equipment where one box can control 2 tvs so I need 2 boxes and can control 4 tv's each with its own remote. Directs only advantage is more sports and I hate sports so Dish gets my vote. I have had Charter for years and I don't mind them except now that I have HD tv's the Charter signal is not very good on HD and they offer only a few HD channels.

My question is after June 12 when all stations switch to digital transmission I wonder if their signals will get better and if they will offer more digital channels.

I am 63 years old and have bought dozens of cars in my life and appliances etc. and had them repaired. In my years on the planet I have NEVER experienced a company as lousy as Charter. I believe they are the worst consumer company in the United States and nothing is remotely comparable. I also believe it is a travesty that they are allowed to have the cable monopoly on the Outer Banks. I would glady pay twice the price to get decent television service. Just one person's view.

I recently switched from Charter which I have had since the 90's to Dish Tv and I could not be happier. Sure, I miss the Greenville and other local channel but the Norfolk local channels come in better than on Charter. The signals are great and I went DSL with Embarq which is great. No looking back!

I also have charter and im trying to switch becuase they SUCK!.
yes I agree with the lady whos son gets drop while gaming.
I do alot of gaming myself on the pc. it seems like i only loose connection while gaming.
it seems like they dont want you to hogg up the bandwith or something.
I have had charter 3 times in the past at 3 differne locations and have always ened up switching my internet 100% percent of those times once to verizon the seocnd time to time warner cable and the third time to verizon again.
all 3 of those times my internet connection was fixed and never dropped again.

so I know for a fact that Charter has this problem.
dont get charter internet if your gonna play games online!!!!!!!!!!

DTV-- I think the only two stations you can get over the air if you're lucky are WUND (PBS, transmitter near Columbia, NC) and WSKY (Transmitter north of Elizabeth City).. the latter less likely. I don't think there is high enough demand for people to have translator stations on the Outer Banks for television reception.

I bought a brand new house here in 99. I had cable installed and immediately had terrible reception. Kept the cable until we were hit with whichever hurricane hit here that summer. I was without cable for a whole week. They were nice enough to discount my bill for $3 even though my bill was $40/month. I immediately switched to Dish Network and subsequently to Direc TV because Dish did not offer local channels at the time. I am considering going back to Dish but will never go back to cable. Even Dish and DirecTv's standard def channels rival digital cable.

Dish seems to be just a bit on the underside of DTV...they advertise a cheaper package, but the choices once you spend a few more dollars don't compare to DTV.
Penny wise Dollar Foolish-DTV do it right and you get what you pay for!

Daily Horoscope for December 7

Taurus

There are powerful forces at work in a relationship today, and they'll have quite an impact on you. If you're with that special person in your life, don't be surprised if there's a lot of sexual tension between you that manifests as irritation and bad temper. You'll probably have a huge row and then have a very enjoyable time making it up.
