In Europe, you have to put a coin in a slot on the cart to release it for use. To get your coin back, you return the cart to a cart park, slip the chain back into slot and redeem your coin. So you get a cart and it's returned properly. Don't have a coin....don't use a cart.

The people who take the shopping carts from the business are stealing them and should be charged with theft.

So.... How's it working in Kissimmee??? That's a major part of the story that isn't even addressed. If consumers are going to pay the cost of this, it would be good to know if it's a worthwhile law.

Or perhaps it just doesn't matter. Let's pass an ordnance because it sounds good, even though there's no evidence of a benefit?

Why punish the victims? It is the city's job to arrest the thieves. What is next? Are we going to stone women who are raped?

Big Lots has the quarter deposit carts.

Downside: While I was in the store, I took my eye off it, someone took my stuff out of the cart, and took it.

These lazy indaviduals who can't seem to be able to carry a couple of bags home without taking a cart from store property should be made to pay a on the spot fine of say $20.00 for the first offence and increment by $20.00 for any further offences and be made to return the cart to the store, This is not just people who don't have cars I have witnessed people with cars on there drives welling a cart to there door and then moving the cart to the kerb maybe 2 houses down the street

What I see is people taking the carts out with them to the bus stop. Can't we just move the bus stop to the front of the store? That would eliminate a large portion of the problem.

The other solution is that all carts must be tagged by the store. When the city finds a cart on the street they know who it belongs to and can fine the store.

Don't you people realize that many of the people who cut your grass, wash your dishes, and who will eventually empty your bed pan can not afford to operate a car?

Mark my words, the people who have been enslaved by your countries imperialistic / capitalistic system are reacting... we continue to grow in numbers through illegal immigration and by having more children. Meanwhile, you borgeous white people are having fewer and fewer children because you are forced to pay for our needs. Same thing is happening in Europe.

We have already won by taking away your freedom of speech... that is why you can only "vent and complain" using anonymous forums such as this blog. If you spoke out publicly, you would be immediately branded a racist and probably lose your job. Meanwhile, we are free to speak out without fear of wearing a scarlet "R" letter.

Look at the voting results for this years democratic party... Hillary Clinton spent her whole career courting blacks... now she barely gets 8% of the black democratic votes! Even funnier, is the Republicans trying to court the Hispanic vote!!!

The socialist revolution is coming!... and you people are worried about shopping carts!

Just something else Orlando wants to take away from the homeless. First they destroy their shanties, confiscate their personal property, and NOW they want to take their "automobiles"

Chester... i have two comments... first comment is that rather than dipute any of my factual statements (which you can not do), you resorted to belligerance.

Second comment: regarding that sill wall concept...

(a) roughly 50% of the 12 million illegals in this country crossed the Mexican-US border illegaly... the other half mostly entered the country legally, and simply overstayed their Visa.

(b) The wall will accomplish very little... we will go over, under, or around it... have you seen some of the tunnels which have been built right under the US Brder Guards nose?

(c) It will take years (decades) to build the wall, not in time for it to be effective... If you understood the current demographics of your border states, you would know that very soon it will be impossible to pass any legislation keeping us out.

(d) how many illegals will you have to hire to build the wall!!!

There's no free lunch. You want the police to now go after shopping cart thieves, they will be pulled from somewhere else. Use some common sense.

I for one am tired about seeing the carts all over. i dont think the police should have to solve this problem. they are already streched in too many directions as it is.

lets just keep the carts at the stores. this is a good idea.
