KINGSTON - What to do with the old high school, that is the question. The answer.

How about we don't flatten it and level it. I used to go to school their and i know there's a crowding problem so how about use it to relieve some students from the middle school or make some use of it instead of making a vacant lot. |

Using it to alleviate the overcrowding problem makes sense, but first let's make sure that it is safe before sending kids over there.Or we could make one of the buildings the new town library.

i went to the school, i know its safe. its structurally sound and in good shape. The town also doesn't need a new library. Whats the use in tearing the school down anyways, it doesnt solve anything.

yea...i go to sanborn now and there is nothing wrong with it all, people just think cause its old looking that its no safe. It is fine all the kids like it and there would be no point of tearing it down because it could be sometype of memorial or something....if they did tear it down then all they would do is put in more houses so the town sucks even more

yea. this is totaly stupid, sanborn is in great condition for a building its age. The middle school stupids should be moved into it,(the 7&8th Graders) and then 5 & 6th put over in newton, its pretty simple as it is. Fremont is joining Sanborn And they should be added into it, and their school is having a population problem as it is. so i say put them all together & lessin the rate of students.

How ignorant are you? We could use it as a community center and for adult education. Granted we cant bring the Seminary building up to code with an elevator but it is beautiful... Get rid of the disposable class rooms on the lawn and enjoy it again. |

The town has needed a new library for decades!
There is no shortage of possiblities: the offices in the Town Hall are cramped, and may have a need for space soon. The middle school is an embarassment. A community center, perhaps modeled after the Portsmouth's "Community Campus", are worthy considerations.

Flattening the school doesn't exactly enhance the town and doesn't save money. And the reality is, this town blocked a commerial development off of 125 so flattening a stae protected building with hopes of profitable businesses replacing it is naive.

You don't need a new library. I live in Fremont - we got a new library. No one uses it except the elderly - mostly because it is pretty much just open during the day. They close shortly after kids get home from school. Besides, there are hardly any books there. And nowadays - most people do research on the internet. ANy way, I agree with Allen. Tear it down and sell the land. Give the money back to the taxpayers. Although - with government the way it is now, they would probably hire a group of people to figure out exactly how to dole out the money - and there wouldn't be any left after they take their toll.

Kingston hasn't approved development on route 125-- how would tearing down existing buildings on real estate with less traffic create revenue?
Some libraries are fantastic resources in their communities-- perhaps Fremont's library is not. Kingston's need for a library is but one option. Are resources provided for the elderly inherently not worthwhile? Is there any place in town for kids to congregate?
