Well it appears that in between the Old Lowes and Matress place is a new Knoxville TVA Credit Union and the other place across the street from Kohls beside Wallace MItsubishi that was talked about is a new NAPA store. I also notcied today they were grading out one of the outparcels at Kingsport Pavillion on the very east corner opposite to where Best Buy is. Maybe they have a lease agreement on a restaraunt there.

No, the the Micheal hasn't opened yet, store shelfs haven't even been added to be stocked last i checked, however the store interior is completely done from what i can see. Currently open is Target, Kohl's, Books A Million, Dicks Sporting Goods, Old Navy, Lane Bryant, Maurices, Dress Barn, Lifeway Bookstore. I believe thats everything? There's still 3 or 4 empty slots there, i assume they havent been sold, as I would think there would be signs of something actually going in them. Not to fear however, the main common itself is barely a scratch of the development thats probably going to be going into the area in the future. The standalone building being built out front is rumored to be a new Verizon store, probably moving from there current location infront of circuit city. Layouts for the Commons theirself show plans for a best buy in the empty dirt lot infront of Dick Sporting Goods, although once more i dont understand why it has not been started. Around 10 lots are up for sale accross from the commons. Ive heard some rumors that the land to the east of the commons has been sold, and plans for a new Walgreens are in the works at the corner of New Beason Well and 11W, im not too sure about it but it wouldnt shock me in the least.

And to anyone that cares, the new Starbucks at the Reedy Creek Terrace is now open, today was its grand opening, Friday January 25th. Two other confirmed tenants will be Panera Bread and Talbot's, both of which are well under construction.

According the the JC store, Michaels opens March 6 and is currently hiring. Saw a sign at the old Ramada yesterday--Michaels is interviewing there. Some JC employees think that the store will soft open last weeks of Feb with grand open on March 6th

As far as the Verizon store yes that is true. The permit was issued to the buliders as well as verizon. As far as other restraunts locating in the area im sure there will be some. But i have no answer as to why there are not any being built yet unless the winter is a slow time for building new stores and restraunts. Then again they may want to see how much 1st quarter sales numbers are for the new stores before anyone commits so they can have an idea of traffic for that location. As far as i know best buy is definitly a GO and will be built spring 2008.

I mentioned the possibility of Best Buy coming to Kingsport a few days ago to the store manager in Johnson City. He said that it is true about it coming, but to not expect to be completed until Oct-Nov 2008. The reason for this is that Best Buy is getting ready to open a new store in Bristol, VA at exit 7. It seems that they didn't want 2 stores within 20 miles of each other opening at the same time.

The Kingsport store will be a 20,000 sq ft store according to the JC store manager. It will be 10,000 sq ft smaller than the JC store, but equal to the store at exit 7.

Hope this helps!

I am from Church Hill, not IL. My internet uplink through Hughes Net must tie in there. I do not recommend Hughes Net for Broadband to anyone.

Honestly, that pisses me off a little bit. Maybe they'll regret that decision when their 1st quarter sales are record breaking. Petsmart is another store who seemed to open a store in Kingsport much smaller than the Johnson City store, in the long run the store is very cram packed and honestly its almost difficult to move. Even after people from Kingsport begging for one for so long, they seemed to be very worried. Thankfully Target didnt do this and opened a store much larger than Johnson City.

Perhaps you can say its only 10,000 square feet, but thats 1/3, 1/3 less products to be displayed, carried, ect. It wouldn't really anger me as bad if it wasnt for the fact Kingsport has practically no good choice's for electronic stores as it stands. The Kingsport Circuit City is a joke. Maybe a new Best Buy mini will motivate Circuit to open a new store, although i never see that happening.

since i am from the asheville area, the petsmart on bleachery blvd (beside ashevilles new super walmart) is smaller and I dont like it as much as the newer petsmart over in south asheville by the airport.

Small update for everyone. For those asking when Micheal's will open, a large red banner on the side of it says "Opening March 3rd". I assume this is a grand opening so expect a soft opening later this month. The NAPA store across from the Pavillion is now open. Also the new Taco Bell that has been built at the same location at intersection of Stone Drive and Eastman road opens Monday, i REALLY like the new design. The new building being erected in front of target is most definitely a new Verizon store, a very large one.

As far as best buy is concerned, it is likely a done deal, and been done for a long time. The hold-up could be the fact of them opening a new store in Bristol. Ive researched the 20,000 thousand square foot thing and it seems to be a trend nation wide. Half the stores opening this year will be 30,000, the remaining half will be split between 45,000 and 20,000 foot layouts. Best Buy is establishing larger stores in areas and then building smaller supporting stores. From blueprints of the Pavillion the best buy seems to be larger than 20,000 square foot, but the site itself definitely shows it to be 20,000. Regardless the only thing that will be lost is as large of area for TV's on displays and appliances. The one opening in Bristol is suppose to be 20,000 square foot. If it has already been built, could somebody in Bristol take a picture so we can see how large it is?

Still no word on restaurants but i expect that to change once quarterly sales are in. A waiter at the Red Lobster in Johnson city told me there would be one opening in 2010, which makes no sense.

Anyways, if anyone knows something, please leave your input.

I have heard that a large area credit union is strongly considering adding a branch at the Kingsport Pavilion. Also, about the smaller Best Buy stores, the appliance section is smaller and should not sacrifice much if any electronic space.
