camden county school system

I know that I continue to beat my head against a brick wall with this issue but here goes. Some facts you taxpayers may be interested in. Just compare these 2 very similar school systems.
1)Lowndes school system budget........57,984,439
Camden school system budget........88,444,760
a difference of 30,460,320 thats 30 million folks
2)Lowndes operates a total of 11 schools
7 elementary-3 middle-1 high
Camden operates a total of 12
9 elementary-2 middle-1 high
3)Lowndes transports 6500 students per day
Camden transports 10,045 students per day
4)Lowndes employs 853 certified personnel
Camdens number is unknown but I bet it's many more
NOW THE REAL KICKER TO THESE NUMBERS
5)LOWNDES HAS 10,133 STUDENTS IN ITS SYSTEM
CAMDEN HAS 9800 STUDENTS IN ITS SYSTEM
WE HAVE 300 FEWER STUDENTS IN OUR SCHOOL SYSTEM AND IT COSTS US 30 MILLION MORE DOLLARS TO EDUCATE THEM. ANYONE SEE ANYTHING WRONG WITH THIS?????

Now don't be confused about transportation numbers. They count morning and afternoon transportation figures so many are counted twice.

whats the deal with academic and non academic diplomas?...what happened to the days where everyone gets the same diploma? is it a way to get kids through the system who shouldn't get through or what?

Well now, are our kids smarter? Do we score higher? Do we have a higher % of grads? I once looked it up and published it here but just don't feel the effort.

Don't forget that $21 million dollar SPLOST addition. Something about some arts school.

26th out of 158 and student obtained a perfect score of 2400 on the SAT.

Somebody is lying. Valdosta city schools and Lowndes county schools together don't add up to 129 million.

I think you need to subtract that 53 million dollars in capital improvements from that 129 million. Then subtract the estimated 18 million dollar leftover fund balance to get to the actual operating budget of the system.

The problem is you don't know how to digest what he's written.

The problem is you can't handle your own household budget much less a school systems.

I don't pay my household budget with taxpayers money. That's the difference. Obviously you can't handle the school systems budget if it takes 30 million more to operate in Camden than it does in Lowndes.

Don't work for either school system but I can read the budgets for both school systems on their website. The 30 million is something you have pulled out of the air little rr.

You also should consider Lowndes has only 8 people that make over 100k at the BOE where we have over 20 and that number is growing. All you have to do is get your Phd and your in teh 6 figure club!

We need a citizen financial advisory board between the BOE and BOC to oversee what is being spent of our taxes otherwise they will just continue to build and add on as they see fit. Thus giving out golden tickets to their friends and families at our tax expense. Corruption at its finest.

No it is not an advisory board per se they all have relatives that work fro the BOE so guess what that influences their voting. AN advisory board would not have relatives that work for the board
and be unbiased.

academic is a 4yr regular HS diploma, non-academic is taking special education, GED, etc. into play. It is all about AYP factors
