Business has plans for three new restaurants

Full story: The Gaston Gazette

The LaVecchia name is well known in the world of Charlotte-area restaurants and a pizzeria and pub coming soon to downtown Belmont is named for two of the family's youngest members.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion. And you know what they say about opinions.

If you do not like what is ongoing in Belmont, feel free to invest your money in Downtown and do whatever you choose to do.

Downtown is more populated with business and people than it has been since the 70's. Please visit the other area retail districts in surrounding towns and report back how they are doing.

no, no.
i certainly don't do that myself.
i actually have people who follow my posts around just to judge them "clueless, nuts, disagree"
they don't agree with my OPINION and therefore feel the need to judge it with negatives, when really it calls the most attention to my posts. and on the same note, im sure they judge themselves "brilliant, agree, helpful".

im not a celebrity, but i do have my stalkers. ;)

upon perusing facebook.com , i came across nick levecchia sr's page.

in response to a comment left on his page, he said that Jax will be serving 24 beers on draft and (cut & pasted from his comment)'Regina will be bartending dealing with all the drunks.'

Heres why i have a problem with Nick LaVecchia Sr:
When you own a business, especially one that does well because you have customers come spend ridiculous amounts of money on your sub-par products, you shouldn't refer to them as "drunks".(even if they enjoy alcohol more than usual...a bar owner should not refer to his patrons as "drunks" publicly, like on facebook.)

People on here can call Jax's patrons drunks, but the owner of the place calling his patrons drunks is a bit disrespectful. When i brought it up to an employee of his, the employee chuckled and said, "Thats how he is. He sees dollar signs, not customers."

Lovely that this is what is "keeping our town afloat."

See - even he admits he's catering to drunks. What a laughing stock Belmont has become. I can't laugh - it's too sad watching the death of my town.

who's laughing ole man? Want to see a dying town, go to Bessemer city or Lowell or cramerton! Just because the downtown businesses do not cater to the blue hair mafia does not mean it's dying!

1) I'm kind of excited to see what Jax will be like. If the wings and pizza are good, I think it will be a good addition to the variety in downtown.
2) If LaVecchia actually did post that on his facebook page, that's pretty lame, and disrespectful; however, everything that formerWord posted is hearsay...
3) BoyGenius, I wouldn't call Cramerton dead...H&M deli is awesome, and the pub/restaurant a couple doors down is really good too (and was smoke-free even before the new law)!

David you like Cramerton because it's full of your queer friends! It's like your little bat cave, or should I say butt cave with gay sidekicks and tights!

I see your parents raised you well - with lots of respect. LOL. You fit right in with the crowd to whom I refer. And " boy" is the correct name. Hopefully one day you'll mature and be a man.

in response to number 2, its not hearsay.
you can see it your self.
LaVecchia DID refer to his customers as drunks on a public facebook page.

last time i checked, when you see something with your own two eyes, copy & paste the exact words you see with your own two eyes, it is NOT hear say.

i hope you do check it out and form your own opinion about the same 'ol bar food you can get at any regular 'ol bar. if there is nothing special about Old Stone and they boast about being "fine-dining" & "up-scale", im sure there will be nothing special about their pizzas & wings.

and after re-reading your post, i gotta chuckle out of "everything formerWord posted is hear-say."

i make sure what i post is one of two things...
1- my opinion
2- backed-up factual information you can find yourself.

didn't any of your teachers teach you anything about using generalizations???:)

formerWord...no offense meant. I really don't have any way to find out for myself about LaVecchia's facebook page b/c I'm not on Facebook, and never really had any ambition to be so. I actually thought you had to be a "friend" of a member to be able to see their page anyway...perhaps I'm wrong, and if so, I agree that is not hearsay, but indeed a public quote. Regarding hearsay, though, you do include some in your original post, and I quote:

When i brought it up to an employee of his, the employee chuckled and said, "Thats how he is. He sees dollar signs, not customers."

That's not your opinion nor factual information that anyone can find out...you're repeating the opinion of another person regarding a third party; ie, hearsay.

oh also, you can create a facebook page and not do anything with it to be able to see his (or anyones) page, assuming they don't privatize certain parts. you do not have to be his friend to see his "wall" where he and others comment on his page (he didn't make it private). if he made it private, i wouldn't be able to see it because I am not his friend.

I don't know which is worse. The LaVecchia's in Belmont now or the Stowe's and Lineburger's who ran the town during the past 70 years. They all have had at least one or more politican in their pocket. That's the way Belmont has always been ran.
