1 Surely one of the 10 coaches standing on the side lines noticed that. Oh well, we live and learn from our mistakes. |

1 Its so easy to sit up there on the hill and judge these coaches, but not ONE of you could get out there and do a better job.(You might think you can...) Its really hard to say that David Stone is a bad coach. He is probably one of the best coaches Stanley has ever seen. You can count the games he has ever even lost. This year, he got screwed. He is in charge of an extremely young team, they don't remember plays, they cry the entire practice, I could go on - but DAVID (& ROBERT) are blamed because the team sucks?!?! Seems to me that you parents need to get control of your kids - help them learn their plays, bust their asses if they stand out there and cry over anything and everything. This is football! THERE'S NO CRYING IN FOOTBALL! David and Robert have been out there coaching for years. Football, baseball, basketball, you name it. And from what I have witnessed, they do a damn good job. But they don't have a chance this year, with the bunch of whiney-ass parents and kids they are dealing with!! Not a chance! You people need to sit back and understand what the coaches have to deal with out there - they are volunteering their time, trying to come up with strategies to win on Saturday, dealing with all of the politics that goes on within the Stanley Optimist Organization, listening to the parents constantly complain & moan about everything, and try to get these kids to remember a few plays and STOP CRYING the entire practice! There's only so much they can do!! But I guess you all have already got that figured out and can do such a better job, can't you????? Please. |

Funny -- Its the same coaches that have been in Stanley year after year, winning game after game. But this season, they get an awful team and are called the worst coaches ever! I don't know why I find that so darn funny!!!! Keep your heads up, David and Robert! You know that you are not the problem, and that you are supported by tons of people in this organization. You guys are awesome! (It will NEVER be any fault of the kids playing or the parents, its always going to be someone else's fault. Just wait until basketball or baseball - the same parents will be on here complaining about those coaches, too! I can't wait!! You guys are a great source of daily laughter for me!) |

Come on people..It's MIGHTY MITE football!!!Not the NFL!we sometimes forget how young these kids really are.So what if the talent is down just a little. The guys coachjng mmn and mms are GOOD MEN.SG is one of the finest men i know who and he just happens to be a football coach in his spare time because he wants to make a difference in his community and in the lives of these young boys. The kids are still LEARNING football.I dont see any ncaa scouts at the games yet, chill out! |

I understand they are only kids, and that football is hard...No one is denying that. But some of the same kids that sit and cry through football are the same ones that sit and cry through baseball and basketball - you get my point.(And no one on here called them "babies". And unless the parents are letting them read these posts, they shouldn't know what anyone is saying about them! So, it shouldn't hurt their feelings or get in their heads.) But that is not where anyone is trying to go with this. The original post was someone trying to blame the coaches for this team losing. MMN has a great group of coaches. Period. These coaches have only lost a handful of games - EVER. None of the parents want to accept the fact that this is a very young team. None of the parents want to make sure their child is learning and studying all of their plays at home. None of the parents want to step in and explain to their kids that every time something doesn't go their way, they don't have to cry and throw a fit over it. Those coaches only have a few hours a week to work with them, and in that time, they are making sure the plays (that the kids SHOULD know) work, and they know how to take and make hits, they know how and when to block, etc. Everyone wants to get on here and blame the coaches and say its "the worst coaching ever", when thats not the case at all! Those coaches have proven over the years that they are good at what they do - but every year is different, and every team is different. Don't blame the coaches! |

1 Are the kids having fun? That is all that matters. Who gives a crap whether they win or lose? If they are coming away with some knoweledge of the game and can say they had a good time, then there is not a problem. Sure, it is nice to win, but it is like "rukiddnme" said. "It is MIGHTY MIGHT FOOTBALL!!!!" That is one of the biggest problems with Stanley. Everybody has to base what they did in sports on a win or lose record. Not how much the kids are learning. Just look at it this way. In 4 months when basketball season is going on; who will be sitting around talking about how many wins or losses a certain football team had? Exactly!!! NOBODY!!! Nobody is going to care about it once the season is done and overwith. Just let the kids play and enjoy it. Do not ruin it for them by bitching about wins or losses. |
