A good friend built his home overlooking Skull Valley with his bare hands. Took about a year, and he slept on the ground the whole time because they wouldn't let him park a mobile home. Oh, it was allowed for up to a year, but he went to the wrong church and always got the worst of it at city hall. One day he called me to say that he was moving on. There was a new neighbor about 1/2 mile down the road, and he was feeling "fenced in." I think that a lot of GV residents are like my friend. They enjoy the peacefulness of the area, and consider the washed-out roads, the methheads, and lack of services as a small price to pay. So, I'm happy for them that the Rhodes development has not materialized. Their taxes won't be skyrocketing and they won't have to feel like strangers in their own land. Sure, some realtors aren't going to get rich, but the prospective buyers can find hundreds of better places to live in the West. The AOL stalker can continue with her juvenile games, but just who does she think she's fooling? There are but a handful of regular posters that visit this board, and I don't think that she's done a very good job of selling them a home in Pravada, if it ever gets started. It's time to move on.

Ya get alot of that in the coastal regions too. But people have to remember. The earth belongs to all of us. You have to expect it. However, I do see your point.

The best of the best can be found in our armed services. A friend of mines grandfather is one of those stand up guys. WW2 vet and a proud construction worker that was part of the original team that helped build the Hoover Dam. What an accomplishment and proud he was so I'm told. To be part of such an awesome and important structure here in the U.S. After his Hoover achievment he took all that construction and engineering experience and put it to good use. He got a veterans loan and started his own medium sized building & development company with a few army buddies, within a year he hired a bunch more workers and expanded. Kept himself and almost a hundred other hard workers employed for decades until retirement. He did both residential & commercial projects so I'm told and they are awesome developments. Sorry to ramble like a rambler but just wanted to share this with the crowd. Happy V Day and catch everyone later Thanks 4 sharing GV Bodybuilder I use that magnificent structure your friends grandfather helped to build all the time traveling back and forth between NV & AZ. Looking forward to the new roads under construction and soon to open Very proud of your friends grandfather and all others who work hard to make this country great. Take care, p.s.- r u going to see the big boxing match on closed circuit in Laughlin? Think it's Cotto & Paquiuo ( Packeeou?- Spell check pleez!)

Good News wrote: American Stock Markets beginning to RISE ^^!! But the nation needs JOBS JOBS JOBS NOW NOW NOW !! From Market Watch !! Nov. 9, 2009, 10:00 a.m. EST US Stocks Climb, Led By Materials, Energy; DJIA Up 90 By Donna Kardos NEW YORK (MarketWatch)-- U.S. stocks opened higher Monday, led by the materials and energy sectors as commodities prices rose and the dollar fell, reflecting a move back into some of the riskier areas of the market that have lagged in recent weeks. The Dow Jones Industrial Average was recently up 91 points, or 0.9%, to 10112. It was led by General Electric, which climbed 3.2%. The conglomerate and Comcast Corp. have settled on how to value NBC Universal, clearing a key obstacle to giving Comcast control of GE's television and movie company, The Wall Street Journal said, citing people familiar with the matter. Caterpillar, Intel and Alcoa also climbed more than 2%. Monday's gains come as the stock market attempts to recover from a weak and volatile past few weeks as investors began shying away from risk after they had flocked toward it for much of the rally since March. "We now see a lot more people and traders more skeptical of the market, which is a plus," as it means there's plenty of money left to come in to the market and send it higher, said Steven Goldman, market strategist at Weeden & Co. Goldman added that with some of the market's declines in recent weeks "having cleaned out the excesses," he now expects investors to be more selective in choosing which stocks to buy. "We're likely to see that the lower-quality stocks are no longer the leaders, as we're getting into a little more defensive market." Still, Monday's action saw some of the areas that are considered riskier leading the gains. The Standard & Poor's 500 increased 1%, led by its materials and energy sectors as metals and oil futures climbed. In addition, the technology-heavy Nasdaq Composite rose 1.2%, and the Russell 2000 index of small-capitalization stocks jumped 1.4%. Both of those measures have lagged in recent weeks, as their components are widely considered riskier. The dollar, which investors send higher when they are looking for safety, was lower against both the euro and the yen Monday. However, 10-year Treasury notes were 3/32 higher, to yield 3.491%. Among stocks in focus Monday, RadioShack jumped 13.3% after it said it will carry Apple Inc.'s iPhone at a limited number of stores later this month, and stores nationwide will carry the phones beginning in 2010. Wynn Resorts climbed 5.5% after unveiling a special dividend of $4 a share and saying it plans to pay a quarterly dividend starting next year. Stocks are nothining but a gamble. Even the experts don't know what they're talking about. Remember Lucent Tech. It was at $85 a share and all the experts said it was the best stock pick of the year. Then it went to about 2 bucks a share overnight. People lost their life savings. How about AOL. They said it was going to buy Times Warner, double and split within the next 12 months. They had their meeting, T.W. bought AOL and the stock dropped like a rock. I'm sure we can all think of many huge companies that did the same thing...The whole thing is a craps shoot.

With all the good news being posted on this board, can anyone explain why Pravada is at a standstill?

For starters, Rhodes is still in Chapter 11. He is scheduled to emerge in January. He was allowed to keep his Pravada investment, but not much else. Also, he has a couple more permissions to get from the ACC... but I have read that those are time factors, not "will he get them or not" factors. Also, JR will have to inventory his balance sheet, his personal life and ambitions, and the future of the market in NW AZ, and decide whether or not he can continue... I hope he does, but GV will continue to develop anyway. But it's going to be slow going for several years, IMO. SteveCA

When I bought my parcel 2 years ago, the owner (realtor) said all JR needed was to get water and it would probably take a few months. Well, it's been 2 years and nothing, absolutely nothing has happened. I think it's just the market is terrible and he's not persuing it. By the time he get's all his ducks in a row he's gonna be about 70 years old. I don't think he'll care to much then.
