How about an update on this story? Did Piedmont School officials ever release a statement? I have daughters that attend/will be attending Piedmont HS next year!

The Spanish teacher and wrestling coach Cardenas is in jail, charged with three counts of rape and two counts of forcible sodomy on a female student. Your daughter is safe from that dude.
I'm betting Piedmont will be rescreening all their teachers before the semester starts, so Piedmont should be safer than other schools around OKC next year. Tell your daughter to report any teacher who tries to molest her. It's likely this female student didn't do that until after several rapes.

Why does this sound so familiar ? Not so long ago, Piedmont had someone assisting coach the High School Girls softball team and He became involved with one of the girls. Check out Todd Yager in Topix.

I have known Steven Cardenas for quite sometime, and for most of you to shoot first and MAYBE as questions later is an insult. Yeah, he made a mistake being with this student, but is it beyond the realm of possibility that she could be some bored teenage girl that watched too many movies or music videos and tried to live out some kind of twisted thought she had.
Moral of the story- Don't point your finger in only ONE direction. If you do, it shows how unreal and generally naieve you are to the stuff most of the younger generation is capable of.

You gotta be kidding me, right! You are going to take up for him. Cardenas is 31 years old, he should know better. It doesn't matter how old the victim was, she is still a child. Even if she did do anything, she is still a child. As a teacher or man, he should have known not to touch a child/student. Why did he leave Clinton? I'd like to know, was it for the same reason. The students of Piedmont should be able to go to school without worries if a teacher is going to messing with them, it's hard enough being a kid these day. School is suppose to be a safe place!!!

You either forget or don't care to remember...this coach is a teacher, the girl is a student! That is unlawful, and coaches and teachers should know better...regardless whether or not she was willing, in love with her teacher, etc...
