Rumor bouncing around is that Oneill Properties and Boyd Gaming may be looking to acquire the slot license destined for King of Prussia.

The King of Prussia site cannot accomodate the changes being made into law by the Commonwealth.

Not enough floor space.

Boyd's 131 Acres are available in Limerick.

I've heard the rumors too. But I can't realistically see that happening as that is a resort license. This poses a couple of problems. First even with the gambling expansion law, they can only have 600 slot machines along with the table games. Then there has to be some kind of resort there. So you would have to spend a lot of money to build a resort or convention center or something and then only be able to operate 600 slots and a few table games.

I don't think that would be economical. If anything, I would think they would be keeping an eye on the Foxwoods Philly license, since Foxwoods very well may lose that license. That is a full standalone license and would allow them to build the entire casino that they were planning to build in the beginning with the full 5000 slots and full allotment of table games.

The Foxwoods license is the only one that I could see that could possibly be in play that would bring Boyd back to Limerick. Problem is that lawmakers want that second casino in the city along with the Sugarhouse Casino, so I don't even know if that is feasable.

The update on this issue is that the Foxwoods license very well may go up for grabs. The proceedings to revoke the license are officially in motion, and the state Senate is backing a proposal that would make the license availabe to the entire state except for Philadelphia County and Pittsburgh. This could very well be the thing that puts a Limerick casino back on the table.

Limerick is also in a tight spot financially right now and may be more willing to listen to the possibility of a casino now then they were back when the protest groups were actively fighting against it. Not saying that that will not happen again, but the Limerick supervisors would be more likely now to ignore this group in exchange for the financial relief that it would bring to a township that needs another $750,000 to meet budget.

Keep an eye on this, as I think Boyd Gaming will definitely be doing the same.

Limerick is once again on the short list.

Boyd passed on the recent April 2010 window that opened as getting involved there would not allow them to buy the King of Prussia license and move it to Limerick.

600 slots and 50 tables is a good start. The revenues are off the chart and the governor can use an executive order to expand the casinos in place.

Boyd took the Limerick property off the market.

That says something right there.

Yeah, but in this economy, I still don't think they would be happy with 600 machines and 50 tables.

Foxwoods license has been officially revoked. Look for things to get interesting within the next 12 months as it will probably take that long to cut through all the red tape and to see if they can pass the proposed law to make it an open bid for any area of the state. It will also depend on whether or not Boyd has the capital at this time to get involved in this. Afterall, the construction on their newest Las Vegas venture (Eschelon) was put on hold until the economy improves. But you can't necessarily go by that, because there is so much competition in LV that a PA casino may be more worth while to build even now.

Wynn has supposedly stated that he would bid for the Foxwoods license if it became available. I'm sure it will be a while before it is officially up for bids and a lot will depend on how things are going when that time comes.
