Rummage clearly has a anger mamagement problem. He can go off in a second. He needs to be impeached. He is not capable of being Mayor, IN MY OPINION. I hope all you people who voted for him will see what you have done.

I am afraid his anger is going to walk the Town into a law suit or worse ,should someone like that have their office in Town Hall?

He thinks he is in charge of everyone in the town and never smiles. He wants everyone to bow to him.

My concern is the problem the Town has had with past Town Managers, with the Mayors office in Town Hall and if he is a hot head as he appears to be,what kind of problems will that cause? Val Foulds appears to be on top of things I hope a hot headed control freak wont drive her away.

It's nothing wrong for having a Mayor's Office, it's what Rummage does that appears to be the problem. It appears that Val is being used a figure head as Acting Town Manager. She is a extremely nice person who I hope Rummage is not using as a Scapegoat if things go wrong. Rummage indicated at the last meeting he didn't like signing checks for gravel. Well he shouldn't be signing check period, he has no authority on the Operation of the Town, that is vested by Council to the Town Manager by the Colonial Beach Code of Ordinances and the Mayor only has that authority in the absences of the Town Manager. His position is described in the Town Charter of Chair of the Council, Represent the Town at Functions and that is it. Also seems by last meeting he doesn't even communicate with the Council Members which caused the last issue with Riverwood.

cbfromhere I agree there is nothing wrong with the Mayor having a office but my thought is it should not be right next to the Town Mansger,it seems like Rummage would try to interfere in Town bussiness and cause unneeded stress on Town Managers,we dont need to loose any more or end up in Harrasment lawsuits because of his temper.

Val is Acting Town Manager. I beleive he is not only interfering but directing day to day operations. He was behind the one sided contract with Riverwood owners and started out blaming it on the Attorney and the Chief, until after about the 5th time the Attorney stated That Mayor Rummage directed her to work on the contract.
Why Council lets heim get away with this I'll never know. He has them working like Staff Officers and not Council Members as a Body.

No one has experienced the anger of this tyrant more than us. He lives on the first floor of our ant colony (Condo Complex). We live above him. I have only lived here for 3 months and he has managed to create turmoil, grief and sadness. We are not able to walk across our living room without the fireworks going off. He bangs his ceiling and calls me and says "What the hell is going on up there and I demand you to cease and desist". He also complains to the board about our every move. We have tried to accomodate his moods. My grandchildren visited me only one time and the fireworks went off again. I sent my family to a motel and cancelled christmas plans for them to be in Colonial Beach due to his anger and total disrespect or regards for others. We had to explain to Rummage that we live in an ant colony and we all will bump into each other at some point.

We really like the beach here but may have to move because we do not know how he will react next.

I feel sorry for the next person or victim who moves into the unit above him.

Yep, Colonial Beach has become a dumping ground for people that are developmentally disabled. I feel your pain.

The "mayors" office should be a "Council" office for meeting with citizens and that is it. The Mayor of a small town like CB does not need to be hanging around the townhall all day bugging staff. He is simply the 7th member of council... he should be cutting ribbons and such. Let the town manager do her job, get Rummage or any other mayor out of townhall, and stop electing these wannabe Ed Koch or Marion Berry's! It is a town of 3500, not a huge city!

Do you remember 11 yrs. of Bone and the "one man show". This town needs a supreme being and it ain't the current town manager.

Of course I remember Bone..he basically made townhall his second home. I agree. And in all honesty, I don't know the current town manager so I can't make a judgement...but I havn't heard good things. I will say that we've had decent town managers in the past who seem to have been "bullied" by past mayors... It is a Town Manager led government in CB and the town seems to have lost sight of that the past 20 years.
