Cart rules

We have recently purchased a golf cart. Can we use it to cross 205? And if we can, where do we have to cross? Any CORRECT information would be greatly appreciated!

From what was in the Free-Lance Star, you may cross at the light at McDonalds, I have seen several in the parking lot. You cannot ride it on 205. I have seen some riding down a path by McDonalds to get to Food Lion. Hope this helps.

I believe I read that as well-you are allowed to cross at the light, and many people do ride the path to Food Lion-If the post on here was correct, that path is owned by the people who own the shopping center, and therefore are unlikely to complain about you going to shop there. I am just repeating what I read, but I have noticed a lot of people doing this lately.

I also heard that you can, or have to, cross at first street. Is that true? I didn't even know there was a path at McDonalds!

No, no, you can't cross at First St. You can only cross at the light. From there you have to find a way to get to the shopping center without going on Rt. 205. This is an unresolved issue. They say as long as the business owners don't complain, then you are free to find a way over to the shopping center through their property. I myself travel on Rt.205 on that small turning lane on Rt. 205 starting at Colonial Beach Discount Store. I haven't found any path next to McDonalds yet, but I'll look for it. In the future they will try to get the speed limit lowered so we can officially travel on Rt. 205 at the intersection.

I have heard the same thing. You must cross at the light. I just wish that VDOT would take the sign down that says No Golf Carts beyond this point. Its confusing when you read that golf carts are allow to cross at the light.

i got a cart rule...........how about the next time you see two cars parked in parking spaces you not squeeze your golf cart between the two cars so we cant open the doors......the next weekend drunk who does this is going to be left on the ground minus one tooth.......then again whats one more when you got 4 or 5 missing

the path beside mcdonalds is between mcdonalds and the bank.hope tht helps anybody

if they cant find that........they need to get the heck off the cart cause they are a danger to all of us!!!!!!
