I suggest your paper do an investigative report as to why PG&E could not fix the power outage timely for the neighborhood near Presidio. I live on 370 Clay. Power went out about 4 pm Tuesday and up till 8 am Thursday, there was still no power. On the same street but on the other side of Franklin, power did not went out at all. On Franklin, there was power. DLI campus power was restored after 4 pm Wednesday (do not know what time exactly). This is the longest power outage since I came here in 1999.I think PG&E is not treating the situation as emergency. Our food is on the brink of going bad in the fridge and I do not have gas stove so I had to eat cold food.

We live on Van Buren, Tuesday at 10am we lost our electricity. The Portola and the four blocks around us also lost power, although Alvarado Street was still on as was Franklin and MIIS. Ours came back on Wednesday at 7am. We kept our fridge closed, and to my surprise - the icecubes in the freezer were still solid after over 20 hours of no power! In the future I'll put all the meat in the freezer and keep the doors closed as much as possible. I just ate out Tuesday night, no big deal. I think this was a good learning experience - we need more candles and batteries, and a radio.
We had all those things when we lived back East!

though a storm like that is traumatic, the power outage forces us to spend quality time with ourselves. the fact that there are no distractions allows for clear thinking about ourselves, our loved ones or just the wonder of nature. yin and yang as always.

Buy a generator! If you can't afford one, get a little propane camp stove.
Me, I'm just grateful to all the workers who went out and braved the storm for us.
Don't get mad, get independent!!!

I looked at PG&E website and they say workers were working 24 hours. Hope so. I did not see them in my neighborhood untill noon Thursday. I guess there is a shortage of hands, so it is understandable. We should praise the workers, but at the same time we should reflect on the system. I noticed that power outtage is not uncommon in such storm and actually I have seen bigger storm without power outage in other places. I believe Monterey area is very vulnerable. Some work needs to be done to make the infrastructure more disaster-resistant.

Daily Horoscope for December 18

Aquarius

You get the chance to prove how romantic you can be when the mood is right. Why not arrange a candlelit encounter with that very special person in your life. There's a strong possibility that you could become involved in a relationship that has to be conducted in secret or which you want to keep strictly private.
