some towns like Branson get way too big for their friggin' britches ! Branson is hanging by a thread. But my family and friends keep coming to vist the area. Some parts are still doing well.Silver Dollar City was packed when we were there last month. The Landing does attract the rich folks. You could not even find a parking place. It`s the strip and the outer parts that are really hurting. What ever happened to Peter Engler`s Engler Block? It`s a car museum now.And Tattoo parlors are popping up everywhere. Sad $hit.... Look at the true crime rates there.Casinos are the way to go but hitler herschend wanted his boat to be one and that is what he was against it but his folks had the river changed to a lake so that stopped that and if he cannot be the onely one he does not want anyone else to have it. Branson was our get away. One year we happened to show up during cruise week and we were hooked. Cruise weekend was so fun, then someone got killed about 3 years ago and Branson has turned it into their money making weekend for tickets. I agree, drinking should be limited, but they wrote it to where the residents can't even drink on their own friggin front porch. Now what's the dill..........pickle ? Burn outs can happen and be ok, no one got hurt on the strip because of burn outs. We like to hang out with other car enthusiasts and enjoy the cars. Instead we got a overdose of stinkin law dog cops walking around with billy clubs and flashlights searching all around our lawn chairs (we did not have alcohol) and felt like theirs was constant scrutiny. We could not laugh and enjoy ourselves anymore in Branson. You know some places-towns like Branson get way too friggin big for their little britches. This is all I got to say about Branson. Cause I'm PI$$ED !

DDT has called it right; it's happening and it's too bad but denial doesn't stop it.
If the locals would wake up and smell the coffee, they might be able to draw back some of the lost tourists but they won't and don't.
Within 5 years or less I predict Branson will be a total has been place; no one will go there any more.

Branson might continue to have some draw for it's geography, hills, lakes. The entertainment sector needs major work and refreshing. Tribute bands have little appeal to many people and are a dime a dozen. Calibre of entertainment at many theaters is second tier at best. The WWII generation that has accounted for much of the attendance in the past is dwindling fast. Aside from an occasional booking with a bigger name and current performer, the selection is stale and weak. Andy Williams the biggest name and one of the biggest draws for shows. He is a class act and has a much broader audience. When he retires in the near future, the attendance figures will take another hit. You can't replace him with someone that had a couple country/pop tunes on the charts 30 years ago.

Branson will continue to be a destination for vacationers and retirees for the duration of anyone alive and reading this.
The Southwest MO. area has too much to offer to fall off the map. Three lakes ( recreation, fishing, boating, swimming, etc.) The beauty of the changing seasons, shopping locally ( and Springfield, 30 miles to the north). A slower way of life. Relax - Enjoy.
The music shows WILL evolve. They have to because audiences will change - so will they.
Most of the Branson 'bashers' are jealous failures in their own lives. They have to berate and drag down others, to boost their own pathetic lives.
Nothing to see here - move along...

Bag of bones and Gangsta Pat are having delusions of grandeur.......or they go around with blinders on.........I would say maybe about eight years ago is when Branson started going down hill......Just my opinion......

In the early 1990's people said in 5 years Branson would be washed up and a ghost town. It hasn't yet. Keep on with the predictions sometime you might end up correct. By the way the end of the world is coming too. Within the next 5 years. If not, I'm sure it will be the next 5 years after or the 5 years after that. But, I'm sure it will be within the next 50 to 150 years.

I agree the economy sucks for lots of people. But Branson has done as well on average as other cities in USA. I buy into what you said about Obama I didn't think he was the guy for the job. He has sold us out for generations to come, and will do it more. I don't know if the USA economy will ever be the same either. The whole country will go down together though and not just Branson. GOD BLESS AMERICA we are not all islamic musslims yet.
