Police, hospital look into doctor's racial slur, threats

I empathize with the doctor's point, but it should have been ranted over a cold beer at a bar, not in a recorded interview. We should be looking for local home grown talent before even considering bringing in another option.

Maybe he could use a better term than sandn*****s.Like maybe,east Indian,or Arabic.Someone could use some diversity training,just before being fired.

Oxboro,its comments like that making things worse.How is anybody with citizenship papers different then any one of us? We are all descendants of people from other countries.If they are not citizens,they will have to become one,just like your ancestors.

A SURGEON, totally lacking in tact, social skills and political sensitivity??

Don't just shut him up. Fire him. His quality as a surgeon is second to his finess in dealing with reporters and his ability to think before he speaks.

Then -- try to find a replacement surgeon. That won't be as easy...

why all the namecalling if you were born in america you are an american regardless of where your ancestors came from maybe if people would stop refering to themselves by handles like african american or asian-american the world would stop seeing differences cheeze my ancestors came from Ireland I guess I just created a brand new race group Irish-american get real people and be the one who stops the racism instead of continueing like every generation before ours

I've never actually heard a black person use the term "honkey" don't think it caught on quite like it should have. I have heard the term cracker, which I think is funny actually. Basically this Dr. was saying he doesn't care if the local guy is a mediocre Dr., he'd hire him before an outstanding physician that was Arab. Just the hospital that I want to go to for livesaving treatment.

Agreed, but what if the other Dr. is better? Who do you want treating your kid? Or youself? I understand the point of hiring people from the area,but bottom line is that if they don't perform as well, this is not the industry to just let that slide

I would hope that a medical facility would hire a doctor based on his credentials rather than where he grew up.

Yeah, he has freedom of speech, but he also has "at will employment" meaning if you do something that makes your organization look bad, you get canned. If you do it publicly, thats a risk you take.

The U.S. government cannot infringe on your free speech. That does not mean a private entity has to provide you a platform to spew hatred. You can spew all the hatred you want, but nothing says this hospital has to support you doing it. Please.

Truth be told, I wouldn't care to have an Arab doctor. I'm sure its wrong, but its an issue of whether you will be able to relate with your doctor.

Stop thinking of doctors as exalted gods, they are just people, some a little smarter than the general public and some a little less.

Too often very smart people don't have people skills, I'd be suspect of the Arab doctor. You could easily import some from Canada, they love the pay and they hate their medical system.

This guy should not be practicing medicine. I wonder what he thinks of patients of color. Are they safe under his care?

Minorities of all colours are permitted, nay, encouraged, to spew the most poisonous vituperation at Caucasians and are applauded for it. In our new, improved, politically correct post-Camelot America, whites are expected to stand by meek and mild whilst they are spat upon by those who, in their heart of hearts, are envious of European American culture which stands in stark contrast to their own. That is the simple truth.

Perhaps the likes of "reverend" Al Sharpton and "reverend" Wright should be held to the same standards as this white professional who is about to be scourged at the pillar and crucified for having dared to blaspheme against the New Orthodoxy. Fat chance !

I find it amazing there are so many uniformed people. I cannot figure out why so many politically correct individuals continually use the racist card. People are not racist in most cases. Do yourself a favor and get informed. Read the book "Hating Whitey" by David Horowitz then we can talk.

Whatever! it's sensitive crybabies that give words power...don't we teach our kids that "sticks and stones might break your bones but words will never hurt you" so that htey won't put much weight on things people might say to them, us throughout life?
