Its sad that it takes gas prices to go sky high for the residents to cut back on fuel consumption instead of conserving fuel resources for the future...

anyone thinks Mufi and his goons are behind these gas prices so that they'll get more support for the rail? if they're not behind on this, at least they're silently very happy about it. ever heard a single comment from the mayor about his concern with the high price and what the people are going through?
Anyone with half a brain knows that higher gas prices do not make more rail more attractive. By the time this boondoggle is built we'll have affordable plug in hybrids to drive around - that don't even need a drop of gas to drive and use 1/3 the amount of electricity as rail does per passenger mile. But there are a lot of people that have less than half a brain and that includes most of our council members and Mufi the King Idiot.

Speculators drive prices of commodities higher. There needs to be a law to force these speculators to take delivery of the oil barrels and not speculate. They hedge without a dime invested. As prices increase they sell that paper...
So those of you blaming consumers based on consumption should get better information.
The weakness of the dollar is the primary factor attracting the speculators & politicians are allowing this to happen, period.

No wind, it is not supply and demand issues are at the heart of the run up in prices. That plus subsidized oil prices in China and some toher places. Yes, speculators and the weak dollar caused by Bush's war on America make the matter worse. In addition, Bush's threat to bomb Iran and his boycot of Iran disallowing oil investment there has meant that iran only produce one half of what they could. Bush is responsible for roiling the market and bungling Iraq. But again, supply and demand issues are at the ehart of the problem.

I am a recovering ice addict and have been dealing with mental illness for some time. I have been riding the bus for a while. Now that I am getting better, I plan to buy a car soon. Hope gas prices don't go up too much further.

Only problem is the time needed to get back into the U.S. In addition, your vehicle's warranty may be voided using Mexican gas that have higher sulfer levels. If you fail the smog check, you may have problems. We don't have smog checks in Hawaii but you need floatation tires to get to Mexico to fill up.

Blame Obama for the high gas prices.

He supports a hefty per gallon tariff slapped on cheaper and more efficient sugar cane ethanol imported from Brazil.

The Chosen One also favors the annual, multibillion dollar government subsidies that domestic, corn ethanol producers have enjoyed for years.

YES WE CAN!!!
