Please Say "NO" to the Ethanol Plant

Just in case they haven't given up and try to sneak the Ethanol Plant into Chase City please continue to say "NO" and let us all work together to try and get some good jobs into our beautiful area. It seems that the ethanol plant in Hopewell is almost complete. And if Osage gets the funding to come to Chase City. All I can say is here we go again. God Bless you all and lets fight for clean air and good drinking water. And most of all our children and grandchildren and pets!!!

Pls go back to New Jersey! We need the work, food is a wonderful thing for our children and grandchildren and pets!!! These plants are eco negitive. Yes, Yes, Yes.

Please say yes to the ethanol plant if they try to "sneak" back in. If they do try and come back they will find MANY of their hurdles have been taken away and it'll be so much easier this time. Thanks to our current Town Council and state reps, the rail line WILL be upgraded and the upgrade is scheduled to begin IN Chase City. Also our Mayor worked tirelessly to get the funding through to make sure we get the water pipeline. Let's add to that fact the zoning is still in place and the Osage still has the option on that Skipwith land. All of those obsticles are now gone and the pieces are in place. Now. let's look at the reality of the waterline. Once it comes we can all expect to see atleast a 30% increase in our water bills. We currently pay ZERO for our well water. Once the line runs we'll pay X amount per 100 added to our existing bills. The only way to offset that is by selling our brown water. Who wanted to buy our brown water to the tune of 100,000.00 per year? Osage did. Who else would? Nobody. Soooooo, it's simple. We need Osage now just to help us with out soon to be 120.00 per month water bills, plus the added jobs and taxes they would bring.

America is losing jobs at an alarming rate. You would have to be a FOOL to turn down a perfectly acceptable and legal business operation in your community right now.

I'm a young man that's graduating from college in May with a degree in Agriculture/Horticulture. I would love to see an ethanol plant open in Chase City! So I would recommend if you're an implant (which I've lived here all 21 yrs of my life, so I can say this) MOVE THE HELL BACK TO WHERE YOU COME FROM AND STOP MESSING IT UP FOR THOSE OF US THAT NEED A JOB!!!

I had not looked at this site for some time but find it interesting that nothing was mentioned about the small distillery that was nixed by the Bd of Supervisors. It seemed there was concern about smell and that the neighbors might be affected, not to mention they had moral concerns about a 250 gal. distilling system. Yet, the same Board as well as proponents for a 55 million gallon/yr ethanol plant were treating with aggressive distain those who expressed the same concerns. One of the other sites welcomes with open arms those who wish to move to Chase City but then one reads where they are told to go back where they came from. Which is it? It was once said back when the ethanol issue was in full swing that if the plant was a whiskey distillery there would not be any opposition. Evidently not. There are those on this blog that are so vehement about folks from somewhere else "messing with their jobs" yet I seem to remember folks saying that the reason there had not been growth in Chase City was because those who lived there and had control made sure new industry did not come in. I guess it just means it is always someone else's fault. I have never been convinced that ethanol is the answer to our dependence upon foreign oil. If you really want to be "econegative" try a little conservation. I also do not believe the benefit to the town will be a net positive, but having said that if the plant does come I hope it is everything everyone wants it to be. Heaven knows, Chase City deserves to have something good happen to it.

You are right in a lot of what you say in this post, but not so right in other parts. It's true that in the past "the powers to be" in Chase City kept a tight reign on what did and did not happen in Chase City. Well, they are either dead or gone now and this is what we have left. The younger of us left that want something new to come are now fighting an entirely different battle. We are up against people who want Chase City to remain "quaint". In other words dead or barely alive. A nice small town to retire to, not be bothered by growth or industry that might make noise or cause traffic. Those include out of towners as well as hometown people that have already retired, for the most part. There are some working people who are opposed as well. Admittedly, a few who supported the effort did single out out of towners were very vocal about it, but then again a lot of out of towners were up front and led the opposition. So, if you make yourself a target by bing in the front line, don't play the hate card when you are singled out. I still hope it comes and I do think it a shame the small still didn't get it's chance.
