They don,t like outsiders. The local government is crooked. For instance a 23 year old boy went to jail because his girlfriend was 16.About a year later a 72 local politican got caught with a 15 year old girl and got 1 year probation. The 23 year old did 3 years in prison and still on probation.Tommy Wright is a slum lord.Rents out a one room old hunt cabin with no plumbing to a family. These poor peolpe go to bathroom in bucket. This whole town is still living in the 50s.Just watch how they treat black people.

It is in lunenberg county same as victoria.Victoria is the largest town in county.I can't remember what the population is for lunenberg but I was there for census so it is wrong at least by 10 as I moved back to FL as fast as I could sell my house. There is no work there

Most government is crooked anywhere you go to a certain degree. Just watch the news. That is so not true on how black people are treated. It is small town living that is for sure. It is a nice and quiet quaint town. The people there are nice and friendly. Not like you find in some cities. The crime rate is low. You have most things you need there in the town. Grocery, post office, hardware store, drug store, a few restaurants, antiques, furniture, florist, banks and some more. However if you want to get to some larger resturants and shopping you can head 30 mins from the area and be in Farmville or South Hill Va. Victoria is about an hour from the suburbs of Richmond Va and Raleigh NC. You can be in the mountains of Va in an hour or Va beach or DC in about 2 and half hrs. Just my 2 cents.

I grew up in Victoria....I have alot of good memories of the town. It is a very small town. And unless things have changed, then there is only 1 red light in the town. And after you've been there for a while, people do accept you. It's just a small town and people have to get to know you before they welcome you. Crime is low because everyone knows everyone and when someone new comes along they have to make sure you're alright. That is how they keep the crime down!!

I didn't say kids wouldn't be kids....no matter where you go, there are kids who like to cause trouble. I said crime is low...not that it didn't exist. If you happen to find a place that doesn't have some sort of crime, PLEASE let me know...I would love to raise my grandkids there!!! When I lived there I was part of the "troublesome" kids in town!! LOL But then again, just about every kid in town under the age of 16 was considered part of that crowd.

another example of the crooked cops of lunenburg. white girl of 17 was raped by a 35 year old black man and the guy was a drug dealer. they told the girl it was sex for drugs and they never looked into it again. they never arrested the guy and told the girl that she would recieve charges for drug use and possession for even being there. the girl even had proof and nothing was done about it.

Just finding this site and comments...know of most of the incidents mentioned...gotta get your facts! Crime is everywhere and there is always more than one side to the story. There are issues in all towns/cities/communities. I was born in Farmville, grew up in Victoria and couldn't wait to leave when I graduated high school. Only to find after being gone for 10 years, I wouldn't want to raise my children anywhere else. There is no such thing as an outsider unless you make yourself one. Victoria and Kenbridge found in Lunenburg County, Virginia is what one "outsider" told me today..."heaven on earth." She tried for 3 years to find a way to move here and couldn't be happier now that she's here.

I lived in Victoria for 18 years. Could not wait to leave. The town was then and is still mostly now segregated by the whites in town and the black on the other side of town. There is one pool on the white side of town and it is impossible for black people to become members. The police and council members are corrupt. Unless you have a strong will and a no nonsense way of thinking, not many black people make it there. Prices are out of this world. What people that live there spend all of their money and food stamps just to make it (hopefully through the month). And yes, lots of people there rent houses for 200 to 300 dollars a month and the house has no toilet. That may not seem like a lot of money to you but it is a lot there. All of the businesses are white owned. No Wal-Mart or anything like that to help bring in jobs and more options. If you are white your kids may have a chance there. If you are black, think of some other options.

I was a true NY "city boy". My wife moved me there in 2005 and I love it. It took a little to get used to, but the entire area is nice. I am used to geting the finger if i accidently pull out in front of someone. there they just waved. If it was not for me missing my kids in Orlando, I would be still there. the life style there is very slow and laid back. I how we still have the house there when it is time for me to retire. I will move back then in a heartbeat. It always reminded me of the movie DOC HOLLYWOOD.

Victoria is probably the quaintest town around. Like many people say any town you live in will have small town politics. You make your own home a home. Whether it is for good or bad. Deal with it.

Daily Horoscope for December 19

Pisces

Are you feeling fraught? It certainly seems that way, perhaps because you've got far too much on your plate and not nearly enough time to tackle it all. Do yourself a big favor and start with whatever is most urgent, otherwise you'll waste time by dithering or getting caught up in trivial tasks. Above all, don't get into a panic because that will squander valuable time and energy.
