I am sorry for the deaths. That is why I moved to a bigger town so the assistance is already there.

Just to clarify, NO ONE has phyically come to Keyes to investigate this situation. All inquiries have been done via telephone. That is NOT going to accomplish anything. We are in a panic here in Keyes.

Why isn't anything being done to assist this town? The parents in this town are panicking as the first case was contracted by an 11 year old boy. The population of this town is less than 400 and this strain of menigitis is rare and deadly. Someone help!

This scares the crap out of me even living in a big town. I was alerted not 2 weeks ago that an 11 year old we know actually french kisses with his girlfriend. As a mother of a 12 year this stresses me out not for him wanting to kiss (I have taught him to the best of my ability) but the fact that just drinking out of the water fountain and cleaning his hands is what I am worried about. This is a mild winter, lots of colds and illnesses going around and it can get quickly out of hand. I also knew a mother of a child who got an infected mosquito bite and the 5 year old had to be hospitalized with the menangitis bacteria. Antibacterial soap just doesn't cut it always and without illnesses we have murders and accidents. What a scary world we live in.

Noone has contacted my brother who buried his little boy Saturday in Alabama. Our whole family is concerned about whats happening in Keyes . Robert contracted the menigitis and died so quickly that it still leaves us stunned.

Oklahoma keeps saying that they had someone in Keyes last week doing community education....hmmm well let me tell you a little about that. Terry Salisbury, of Woodward Health Department, did go to the Keyes School on Wednesday Oct 29th at 9:00am and talked with the students and the few (VERY few)people who "heard through the grapevine" that there was going to be an assembly. This was in no way "community education" as the community was not informed. Furthermore, this woman simply read two printouts she got from the internet (which any of us could have done). She was unable to answer questions clearly--unless she could find the answer on her handout. She gave incorrect information, and then failed to follow-up with a correction. All this woman did was confuse people worse and upset everyone. Community education.....what a joke! Talk about doing the bare minimum!
