The latin american countries are most unforgiving of visa and immigration violations. They'll throw you in the slammer and let you rot until you can come up with bribe money.

From the SR city report, not surprisingly in the last paragraph;

"The primary purpose of the checkpoints is not to cite or arrest individuals, but instead is aimed at education and deterrence. Accordingly, the City’s experience that the checkpoints do not dramatically impact the statistics on arrests is unsurprising and consistent with the pattern in other jurisdictions."

I wonder how "dramatically" it has no impact. Perhaps the city has some graphs and charts to share with the community to show just how ineffective these programs are in educating and deterring drunk drivers.

Details showing just how ineffective our tax dollars are in getting drunks off the road would be very enlightening. I doubt this information will be as forthcoming as the arrest records were. Remember, arrests are NOT the goal of the checkpoints!

Interesting how we are being fed information. What is the data on drunk driving deterrence. Perhaps in the negative achievement category?

Looks like the tail wags the dog again. Continuing failed polices and programs and expecting different results is insanity. I guess that is why they call them "WINGNUTS". A mental disorder of the highest order.
