It takes all kinds doesn't it? The punishment should fit the crime, you know, an eye for an eye, lets put this person in a garbage bag and tie it up and throw him into the ditch.

Officials say they found man who brutalized puppy

By Amie Jo Schaenzer
THE REPORTER
AJSCHAENZER@FDLREPORTER.COM

Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Department officials say they have found the man responsible for mistreating and abandoning a poodle mix, named Benji, in March.

Benji was found tied in a garbage bag near Auburn Ashford Drive in Campbellsport on March 26.

A biker was riding in the Lake Bernice area when he spotted the bag moving in the ditch. He stopped and opened the bag to reveal the malnourished dog.

A 41-year-old Campbellsport man voluntarily came in for an interview and admitted “knowledge and participation in the incident,” said Chip Capoyianes, the sheriff’s department detective assigned to the case.

Officials said they could not release any more details about what they learned during the interview, pending misdemeanor charges in court.

Wright Veterinary Clinic in Campbellsport took in Benji following the March incident and has been nursing the 3-year-old dog back to health since. Benji is currently staying at the clinic as an “office dog,” said Lt. Bill Flood of the sheriff’s department.

Anonymous tips from citizens and information provided by the Wright Veterinary Clinic in Campbellsport pointed officials towards the suspect.

The sheriff’s department worked in conjunction with the Campbellsport Police Department to solve this crime, Flood said.

Several misdemeanor animal mistreatment charges will be referred to the Fond du Lac County District Attorney’s office for review today, Capoyianes said.

The suspect is not in custody at the time, Flood said.

The Wisconsin Puppy Mill Project offered a $1,000 reward for information in this matter. Flood said he is not sure who, if anyone, will receive the reward since the tips they received were anonymous.

No more additional details were immediately available for release at this time.

That is TERRIBLE. Who could do that to a poor, helpless little dog. I have two poodle mixes of my own and love them so much, I just can't imagine how someone can do that. If you have a Poodle mix that you dont want check out www.poodlemixes.org . They are a great reference and you can place rescue ads.
