This discussion board is the last place you can expect to get away with lies and slandering good people in our community who work tirelessly doing what's right in the best interest of our school children first; and our community as a whole. The next thing you should do on this discussion board is apologize! Try showing a little self-respect for yourself; and stop resenting the accomplishments of our school board representatives.

Yeah but it's alright to lie and slander PRIOR boards of education on this board, just not the current one. NOW I get it!

My high school athlete just completed 4 hours of the work to get $100 credit. It was a great experience and that student has more appreciation and pride in the school than every before. Even some ownership. This student will never let someone get away with trashing the school or vandilism going forward. If I were a coach I think I would require this of my players as a team building excercise going foward even if there were no pay to play fees! Thanks to whomever came up with this idea!

I guess it really shows what all boards think of him. A hanger-on. By this point in time I'm fairly confident Jim can't be all that concerned about titles. Rigano understands that in terms of getting key votes passed, he possesses every bit as much pull as this board's president & VP. Even those who are new to this district by now should have witnessed Jim (& David's) work in helping to straighten out the mess that was the 2011 budget. Jim Rigano has shown over and over he is top notch when it comes to compiling accurate information and double-checking the accuracy of budget figures, past, present, as well as data for future forecasts. No, I don't think Jim Rigano is much on titles. The welfare of kids in this district has always been Jim's # 1 priority. They always will be. During his first time as board member, Jim being a conservative usually found himself among a minority. If you were to ask him he may tell you that as minority board member, leveraging in order to make things happen for the benefit of our kids is not unlike a bimonthly walk through the valley of the shadow of death.

If I were a coach I think I would require this of my players as a team building excercise going foward even if there were no pay to play fees! Thanks to whomever came up with this idea! We can thank our new superintendent who encouragingly states in the August 16 Springboro Sun...."It is no longer enough to look at scores at the course or grade level as a measure of success. We will strive for improvement at the individual student level"....."Everythi ng we do as a district--even things that seem far removed from the lessons in their classrooms--is directed toward their success." We can thank school board representatives Kelly Kohls, David Petroni and Jim Rigano for working tirelessly with school administrators and boosters organizations doing what's right for our kids' best interest first; and as presented in the budget/finance committee report at the August 14 meeting: Over the 2012-2013 year, the District and the organizations, will work together to determine a structure that allows athletic/band operate with no funding from the District general fund, resulting in SELF-SUFFICIENT programs! And that's a Win-Win "structure" that we can all support for our children's future.

"Never, Never, On a Sunday...'cause That's OUR day of Rest!" oh, by the way... we always buy the big chik-fil-a tray on Saturday to serve with cold salads on Sunday afternoon lunch with friends after we all come home from "sunday morning meeting" down at the local community church building.

Where Is the Money wrote: <quoted text> A few comments were made at the last board meeting suggesting that we just get off the trail of the missing money from the boosters athletics fundraising business; and just leave these financial mishaps to the outside investigators. But it's agreed that we need to stay focused on asking these tough questions on the inside (our school board elected officials; school administrators) until a "clean slate" can be presented to community members. We must not be led from the path of "finding out who is to blame" by those who would try blaming other issues to divert attention. There's a lot of explaining due as to how our boosters fundraising business got into this mess. Another point of interest in the August 16 Springboro Sun article by Todd Petrey (Opening of school brings new beginnings)states: "Some changes --like the Common Core Curriculum-- are external, and our job is to meet the challenges given to us. Other transitions are driven from within our district. The news of staff who have moved on to other pursuits makes big headlines; but assembling our new staff is the real story....." ...."Streamlining our staff in this way results in significant cost savings." Another important point: It is 100% agreed with Mr. Petrey (after personally observing our new superintendent and his new administrative staff at the August 14 public school board meeting) that "Lee Vincent and Jeffrey Madden bring a wealth of instructional experince to manage responsibilities in curriculum as well as operations and human resources in our central office." Good things are happening in our schools and community; and among these good things is "a change in tone and tenor" (toward our Springboro families and taxpaying homeowners) being made by our BOE majority members and our new school district leadership. To sum it up in one word: R-E-S-P-E-C-T!

same old dirty laundry wrote: <quoted text> While the State auditor's office is digging into this, don't you think this would be the time to call a temporary truce? What positive good could ever come out of attacking an animal that's been previously wounded? What positive good...? Well, IF everyone in our community cleaned up his/her OWN dirty laundry (instead of hiding it behind lawyering up to protect it); then just imagine the Positive results.... our school district and community would be ALL cleaned up! And why would anyone in our community settle for less than "positive good?" With all the good things happening (resulting from the new board's philosophy of putting our children first) why do we still have a few "close-knit ones" concerned only with adult-first self interest "hunkering down and protecting themselves?" These close-knit ones offer no creativity and imagination on ways to meet our school district's challenging times in the best interest of our school children and community as a whole; but protest rudely and loudly against our school leadership's direction of transparency and doing what is right for our children's future.

worried wrote: Just curious - how many posters are going to support the renewal levy that will be coming down the pike soon? Many of those attending recent school board meeting in support of recent decisions made by our BOE majority and our new school superintendent are at this time making "No Comment" on "what's coming down the pike"....... First things first; and it's agreed with Mr. Petrey's statement in his "new beginnings" August 16 Springboro Sun article: "Our Board of Education is scrutinizing the financial status of our district, asking the tough questions and striving to find the appropriate balance to offer the best opportunities to our students in the most financially responsible manner. Innovating staffing, careful budgeting and complete transparency will be central to our work this year." "Transparency is CRITICAL. With our board, I am dedicated to bringing new attention to old procedures. And we are taking steps to institute an audit of all financial practices in our district. This is an oppportunity to put an end to doubts, find and correct problems, and improve our district's overall financial health. We will repair any cracks in the foundation so that this district can continue to build on its exceptional traditions." Many who approve of the new direction in which our BOE majority is leading our school district, are now focused on Transparency and Accountability as we fully support our superintendent's agenda for our new school year. Then, when the time comes to consider "renewal levy" we can trust in our own verification of "Just the facts" and No Fake Budget Crisis. Now that's BOE accomplishment in which we can all feel "Boro Proud!"

John Agenbroad was overheard saying that Springboro does not have a financial crisis, there are no foreclosures here. Interesting the Democrats in this town don't get it at all they just keep spending like no one is watching or hurting. I only want real people in these public offices. You can't know what the rest of the voters experience unless you are one.

IDK what is going on in Springboro http://www.daytondailynews.com/news/sports/hi... I don't understand any of this. First the boosters and now? Our little innocent town is being torn apart http://www.ethics.ohio.gov/opinions/2008-01.h... Sooooo glad there are women who are here to save us. LOL Scott Anderson resigns and this is what they have to say? Dorie Watts Oh,no. This whole thing is going terrible quickly. So sorry to read this. Tiffany Carlisle Thanks for repeating what I have been saying for 2 years now! We need to have 15 scheduled speakers at the next BOE meeting, and the next, and the next...! Tell the board what you think of the decisions they are making.GET INVOLVED AND STAY INVOLVED Debbie Leach Christian I know Tiff....I was one of the people that was always too busy. Surely being a single mom was a good enough excuse. I have been to meetings here and there over the years (my neighbor is a past president), but only started attending regularly in January. What and eye opening education. Thanks for being a pioneer. Tiffany Carlisle Thank YOU Debbie Leach Christian for joining us in this fight! What are you fighting for? Are you fighting to clean up this mess or fighting the cleaners? Isn't Tiffany on the Boosters Board?? No questions about that just "oh no the sky is falling because Scott Anderson resigned"? Denial is what they must feed on.
