More waste on another project to nowhere

Full story: Home News Tribune

Approximately two years ago our U.S. congressional leaders decided our federal tax dollar should be spent on a $400 million bridge from Ketchikan, Alaska to Gravina Island, population 50.

I am so sick of people bashing Ketchikan for wanting a bridge to access Gravina! For us it was not a bridge to nowhere it was a bridge to our future!

Yes the price of the bridge was ridiculous but what government project isn't!

Currently Ketchikan is isolated to the island of Revilla, an island that is mostly off limits because it is in the middle of the Tongass national forest an immense wilderness larger than all forests in the lower 48. Revilla has no land left for residents to grow, no room for new businesses and the jobs they could bring us, no room for homes or anything else you might want to make your life here in Alaska.

Gravina was and is our future. But now it will never be because you people who will never live here have smeared our dreams!

Why not pay attention to your own back yard and leave us to take care of ours! Proportionally Alaskans pay more than any other American in taxes and Alaska gets less than any other state in federal dollars.

I think you should get over yourself asa I am from Ohio and recently moved to Ketchikan. Why should you people expect the rest of the country to support you?

Most of the infrastructure in the lower 48 was built with Federal dollars. The bridges in NYC were bridges to nowhere when they were built, the Golden Gate Bridge was really a bridge to nowhere but those bridges allowed those communities to grow and prosper. Why would you deny that right to us Alaskans? Are we not equal to New Yorkers or Californians? We are tired of being treated like a red headed step child who hears one broken promise after another. Give us all the Federal land we were promised at statehood and help us build infrastructure like every other state. Quit trying to turn our state into one giant National Park for people to read about but never visit.

I think you should go back to Ohio! we don't want rude people like you here! We don't expect the rest of the country to support us! In fact we have supplied the rest of the country with our resources for years! many of you people come here to take our jobs and resources then run off home without contributing one single tax dollar.

Daily Horoscope for December 24

Scorpio

If you're feeling brave enough, you should get out all your receipts`, and then tot up how much you've spent this month. Or don't you have the courage to do so? It will be far better to know the truth than to pretend that everything's all right. But don't let it spoil what promises to be a delightfully enjoyable and rather emotional day.
