Call it what you may, texting, cell phone conversations, watching a DVD, playing with your GPS, reading ……. All distractions from paying attention to your driving responsibilities. I agree with being issued a ticket for texting while driving, it’s my option you should be ticketed for using a cell while driving. This all should be addressed by the driver when they get behind the wheel, at their level, that they are putting themselves and others at risk by putting these devices and activities first and not other people’s safety. We’ve gotten to be a “all about me” bunch of people.

It's simple, the Commonwealth has to prove that you were texting, get pulled over, deny everything, go to court, ask the officer to provide evidence that you were texting, 99% chance he didn't get your phone records, case dismissed!

So you can't even text a message while you are stopped at a stop light?

I welcome this law and have for some time. I have always wanted it for just talking on the phone. I was hit in the rear with the driver never applying breaks at a light I was stopped at because they were on the phone. I am just flabbergasted that someone would think they were cautious while texting. Instead of getting smarter as a species we seem to be getter less so.

Why is it off topic? There's plenty of people who can't chew bubble gum and drive in a straight line at the same time, both cops and civilians. Why should one be exempt and the other not?

So this law states that I cannot text while stopped at a red light? Can I read a book while stopped at a red light? Can I read a magazine while stopped at a red light? Can I look over at the car next to me while stopped at a red light? Can I close my eyes and rest while stopped at a red light?

Technically, Yes. No. No. Yes. No. Driving is a serious business - stay focused on the road. Want to do all that in a vehicle? Take the bus.

No texting while driving should be a no-brainer. If you're texting & reading tests, you are NOT watching the road or other vehicles or pedestrians. What is so darn important that it can't wait til you either pull over off the road or you get wherever you're going? No matter the speed or where you're driving, if you are behind the wheel PAY ATTENTION. 100% attention!

Don't forget that the officer who collided with the wheel chair guy was found to have been texting prior to, and you can BET it had an impact on the judge's decision.

Glad to see this. During my 45 minute commute I can't count the number of swerving morons I pass every day who are texting.

And no I never text while driving. I email because that is still legal.

Daily Horoscope for June 2

Libra

It's one of those difficult days when anything can and will happen. Someone you were relying on might let you down, plans could be changed at the eleventh hour or a machine could go on the blink. To make matters worse, your energy levels are very erratic, so you feel full of beans one minute and ready to go to sleep the next. Don't make the situation worse by eating foods that give you a high followed by a slump.
