Was that sarcastic comment about a nice, clean, family-friendly "diversified" neighborhood? Sheesh, aren't you an a-hole!

Oh we are smart alright, smart enough not to buy a Whitecap house!.....some clown from the Zale group in IL named it whitecaps. HAHA No one from Kenosha named it.
Go Cubbies wrote:
Generally, a whitecap has something to do with waves on a lake. I do not know of any lakes around there, thats why I ask if maybe it is some kind of slang. Apparently nobody knows and i do not care to hear all of the other bs especially that mary jane hag running off at the mouth about her socalled life.
Anybody can name anything whatever they want. I just thought that some thought usually went in to it I guess not.
Thank you for nothing. I heard that people from kenosha weresmart but i guess they are not.

I live in White Capes. THe sign as you enter the subdivision is blue with waves. I suspect that they called it that due to its location near Lake Michigan. From a building in Buffalo Grove, Illinois, this area would seem to be close to Lake Michigan even though it really is a 15 minute ride.
River Crossings is not really built on a river, and Horizons...wellll

Anyway, nice community, great neighbors, construction is okay, close to schools, shopping..love it.

ok, kenosha is by lake michigan right? and lake michigan has waves with crests right? so lake michigan has whitecaps, so they named whitecaps after the lake, how can you all not get this? and why does every internet conversation lead to useless bickering? wasnt the question about why it was named, not just about how the homes were?
it was a good question, people arguing just ruins it

I too, think you are ALL idiots.

I challenge anybody to look out the window of any house in whitecaps and tell me that they can see a whitecap.

Stupid FIBs!

Whitecaps DOES refer to the caps on waves. To the person who commented that there is no lake in the area... what is Lake Michigan??? You see whitecaps on Lake Michigan frequently. A developer can name the subdivision whatever he or she wants. It doesn't have to have anything to do with the physical location. Regarding the quality of homes in the subdivision. It is true that the homes built early on in the subdivision were of questionable quality but the quality improved over time. Our home was built 9 years ago and the quality of materials and workmanship is better than we saw in most other places we looked with similar pricing. We have had no problems with the house at all.

What is Lake Michigan?
It is a lake that nobody in that cheesy suburban crackerbox commune could see w/ even the best of telescopes.

Sure, a developer is free to name a subdivision whatever they like, but C'MON MAN! Try to give people the impression that you have some sort of clue as to what the fuck you're talking about.
Otherwise, the subdivision will be populated by IDIOTS like YOU.

Please don't have children!

White Caps are the breaking water on top of a wave in a lake. The subdivision isn’t on Lake Michigan’s shoreline, but it is only 6 miles away. However, I think the reason “White Caps” was chosen was a marketing strategy by the Builder; comparing the value and beauty of the subdivision to Kenosha as the peak or crest to the rest of the wave. I don’t own a home in there, but that would be my best guess. What prompted this inquiry?

White caps does refer to Lake Michigan waves. It is part of the marketing to get people from the interstate to be interested. Kind of far from the lake, but it is still a nice subdivision. (I don't live there.)Not everyone wants an older neighborhood older house etc.

What it boils down to, is that the Lake Michigan whitecaps are nowhere near this crackerbox suburban ghetto.
Whomever named it, is just another stupid FIB.

So names have to make sense to YOU??
Your name probably means regal or kingly or gracious or something FAR from reality.
If you are going to pick on a name, go BIG! Like Coca-Cola which litterally means cocaine drink, or cocaine soda. Um no.
At best this is a Sienfeld-esque joke, "What's up with 'Whitecaps'? It's neither white nor capped."
Gimme a break.

"White Caps" was the named attached to it by the developers before the construction started up.
Only they know the reason for the name, but I assume that it has something to do with the lake.

White Caps are what you get on a lake when a strong wind picks-up. The sub-divison was named for it's proxcimity to Lake Michigan which gets a lot of White-Caps
