With limited state funding the Public Defender is using his resources for past crimes rather than for people that he is supposed to be defending today ?

Easy for you to say because it wasn't you or any of your family that served the time. Had it been you would be playing a different tune. It really amazes me the ignorance and stupidity that is in the world.

It is not the job of the
Public Defender to play Crusader at the
expense of people sitting in a county jail needing a Public Defender.Ask the State to hire 3 public defenders to review all the "dog" cases. If the state doesn't the county can raise the property taxes to fund the cause.

Scott, in addition to the abhorrent behavior of Preston I hope you expose every detective,, every in-take state attorney, prosecuting state attorney, State Attorney, Judge, defense attorney, and investigator in all the Preston cases who let these injustices make it to the next level.
It is sad that this farce could make it through so many levels. Mob mentality at its finest. Expose them all!
See you have time to get away from all your accusations in Tallahassee with the Leon county Sheriff and a former county commissioner of which none have been proven to have any merit. You are good entertainment for those of us that work in Tallahassee part time or full.

We spoke with someone from the Innocence Project (Seth Miller) about this issue on a show last week; this is an outrage; and a special task force needs to be set up to investigate and look for similar cases as these. There is no justice so long as ignorant prosecutors are happy to throw innocent people in prison and then refuse to do anything about it.

Yes, expose them all!

And call it what it is--mob mentality, Groupthink, good-ole-boys-loyalty networks seem to be some apt descriptive phrases.

Is this "expert" Preston not liable for his erroneous testimony? If an eyewitness gives false testimony and it is proved otherwise are they not found in contempt of court and punished?

Procurator has a point that this should be reviewed by someone other than the public defender. The state attorney general should be going after Preston and all those who collaborated with him.

When I see anyone committing an illegal act I have an obligation to report it.

And if it is someone in authority committing illegal acts I am not supposed to report it?

Thanks for your input even though I respectfully disagree with you.

Glad to see you are so easily entertained.

Norm's a putz...he always has been. And yes...he is very much a part of the Good Ol Boy network. The real travesty here, besides a very likely innocent man sitting in prison for 20+ yesrs, is that people elected this douche bag to office (yes people, the State Atorney for each judicial circuit is an elected office). Replace Norm Wolf-pullmy-finger with someone competent (and Lawson while we're at it!) and do the justice system some justice.

Well, being the sister of the 4th man
faslely imprisioned because of John Preston and his magic dogs, I must tell you , he (Preston) has passed away as have some of the key people
invovled in this case. It has been a
long 25 year road to try and get the
approriate people interested in my brothers case. He has been living a "NIGHTMARE" in Fla.'s prision system and has of now barely survived
it. As his family , we also have lived the same "NIGHTMARE" working
over the years with limited money
and resourses to prove his innocence.
We are elated with the recent newspaper stories and discussions
going on about his conviction and
the steps being taken FINALLY to prove his innocence. Please , contact
your governor, state officials, etc.
and let them know how you feel concerning the judicial system in Fla. and the need for a REAL LOOK
at the way its run. We thank all
those people who have made this
look in to my brothers case possible
and hope that it may lead to helping
others also falsely accused.

States are never quick to admit wrong-doing and even more slow to release innocent people even after proven to be innocent. I also think that some resources need to go into solving the original crimes here, considering that Preston was used to convict more than just these three or four - that means that there are many unsolved rapes and murders out there that now have to be considered "cold case" crimes and should be solved.

what about the fact the REAL guilty person is out there scott free. The reason the state does not want to go back and do the right thing is simple money they know we know and now you know it. This man need to be freed and anyone who this man ans his magical dog convicted at the very least deserve a new trial. Injustice is injustice there was a time in Florida a defendant did not even get a Lawyer a man named Clarence Earl Gidieon changed that forever just because its is expensive to right the wrongs does not make it exceptable .

I want a review of preachers that hire hit men that turn out to be cops for people they don't like and get a light sentence.

I agree, and my post DID include an opinion about the real guilty parties:

"I also think that some resources need to go into solving the original crimes here, considering that Preston was used to convict more than just these three or four - that means that there are many unsolved rapes and murders out there that now have to be considered "cold case" crimes and should be solved.

Public defender? What are you talking about? I believe Scott is asking for the State Prosecuter to look into all of the cases in which this idiot and his dog hlped secure a conviction. I also believe that they should. It's not about the state being right or wrong. It's about justice.

You sound jealous.

At $50K per year per FL statute, that's only $1.25 million BEFORE taxes or about $860K clear..

Assuming he was setup, this guy will need to buy everything from scratch: house, car, furnishings, clothing, etc.. Not to mention getting a 25 year late start towards funding a do-it-yourself retirement (most will need more than $1.25 mil for that alone!) and after he has lost most opportunity to do so in any tax advantaged way (IRA, 401(k)), minimal contributions toward Social Security (it's difficult to have a good average salary for the last 35 years if you've earned zero for 25 of them.)

And, all of this before even considering that he may have lost 25 years of his life for no good reason.

I know I wouldn't trade places...
