No way out of Lake County

Full story: Lake County Record-Bee

It sounds simple enough. I booked a Christmas flight out of Sacramento airport to visit with family.

You may also drive to the Sacramento area and stay the night...and park your vehicle at the motel for free until your return. The motel provides shuttle to and from the airport.

Cheaper than a limo.

I guess someone needs to have a number or location for people to indicate they are interested in ride sharing. The problem is the major hassle factor.

take the lake transit to ukiah. from there take the mta to santa rosa. that total cost is about 20 bucks. from there take the sonoma county airport express to either sf or oakland for 32 bucks. have a safe trip.

That is one Hell of a clever plan; cheaper and safer than long-term parking if you going to be gone for week. Your car is safer, in all likelihood, with people coming and going around it. If you arrive at an odd time, have had a bad flight and not are ready for a 100 mile drive home you have a crash pad at hand! Free or cheap transportation to the terminal; what could be better.

I always have the feeling when I leave a car in long-term airport parking lot that I will return to an empty space or see another car in it. That has happened to a friend. At a motel I think your chances are better that car thieves are not around.

I recommend doing what I did...Move out of Lake County and never come back agian.
The problem with Lake County is it never makes exceptions or does anything progressive. It just stagnates. I found that area to be stubborn and backward. It has all the cost of California and none of the desire to create industry or succeed. I am sorry that there are people that think that it will one day improve, but that would take motivation and a "non-retirement" mentality. You have to do something about your situation and God knows no one there will help you.

LOL-as a non-retired person from the Bay Area-Rural living is as many find out too late, is what it is. People move here, or SHOULD move here because they WANT to be away from high traffic and the rest of the city scenario. If more rules than laws, constant traffic jams, drive by shootings, asphalt, concrete, the convenience of living 2 minutes from shopping but it takes an hour to get there because of traffic and houses made of tiki taki are your thing, then the country is not for you. The 'city" fulfills all of the yearning a person could have for that. IF you want higher education etc then being a go-getter is a must since it is not handed on a platter here, people to succeed must be totally self starters with a high self-sufficiency level.

Ladies and gentlemen,
Effective today,(June 22, 2009) and until further notice, Captain Russ Perdock will be on approved leave. Captain Crystal Esberg will assume command of the department's Logistic's Section in Captain Perdock's absence. Any messages or other inquiries taken by reception or dispatch concerning Captain Perdock and the business of the department shall be referred to me.
Be careful.

Hmmm wait a tic,
are you saying that higher education and drive by shootings are requirements of the big city? And who said I am referring to the " Bay area" type of situation?
As far as I can tell, there isn't a screwed up area on planet earth like that hell hole.
Personally I hope it breaks off the west coast and falls sinks deepest part of the continental shelf. They no more succeed at life then they promote morals! As far as being motivated and a self starter, you did move to the wrong area if you think you'll get anywhere in Lake-tucky. You might get hit by a drunk cop in a speed boat with those crazy ideas.

what do you mean $63-per week is too much to pay to leave your car in an alfalfa patch? Try beating $9-per day at SFO!

Am I the only one who thinks it is hilarious that someone from Georgia is trying to crack on Lake County?
There is only one reason for someone to leave CA for GA... s-t-u-pid

As for the topic I do wish this county had better access to the Sac airport. Maybe some type of ride sharing message board would work. I know there are times when having someone to share the cost of driving to Sac. would help me a lot.

Have to agree, that moving from LA to here to get away from crowds, congestion, smog was great, a rural lifestyle means somethings are less convienent.

I for one, try to book my flights out of Santa Rosa Airport. The security screening goes much faster no running to a gate (there is only one!) long term parking is a short walk to checkin. There is also a certain nostaliga of the earlier days of flying when walking on the tarmac to your plane (ie it's fun)

But today I am enjoying watching the sun come up on a beautiful clear day, no noise, no smog

Your crank lab perhaps? Your ticket to prosperity? I know the formula. You are a fictitious character encouraging psychotropic users to "make your day" because of your arsenal that you brag about all the while "loaded on your own ego and a brewsky" thinking you mean a wit to the universe at large. You are a small, small, small (.)
Why don't you turn off the TV and get a library card and read a book. There are nice people down there that can get you started in something productive. You don't have to be the hose boy for the rest of your life. Your choice.

That would be your campaign. No one wants you in ANY form of authority because you are the one shooting, stabbing and or abusing substances down at the local watering hole with the likes of Perdock. Leaving Lake county? You can catch the out of town Greyhound bus. Hopefully on it and not under it. Then again, what can I do with a bunch of irate taxpayers? Just tell them to use the system. The system isn't broken, but Donna Christ, the poser is about as broke as it gets. Hose boy, cornhule and Chester. All a bit dazed and confused. Meds won't help, but a prefrontal lobotomy might bring him solice in his mother's basement where he sits by the scanner and posts under various assumed names.

My point of Lake County ignorance proven, Thanks Harold! your a shining example of someone who hasnt been back east ..most likely ever. The truth is, unlike Lake Co and other sinking communities on the west coast, This area is actually booming with higher paying jobs and good benefits. Oh and as for stupid as you indicated earlier, your the dumb--- paying the high registration rates, the highest national average on insurance and 3rd highest in the nation for gas(thats due to go up with the increased taxes Arnie tacked on too) sounds like your ignorant one stuck there..not me. Oh and I moved from there Harold so dont bs me with your psuedo logic.

I think thou does protest to much. I always love it when people move to the ghetto then try to convince you how it's really not as bad as you think. The thread is about transportation to the airport, not how the land of dixie is not the racist h-e-doubletoothpicks hole we poor ignorant California dumb ----- know it to be.
