the cops are a joke! I got married in 03 and all of our belongings were stolen. the officer didn't turn his report in to the detectives for 14 days. the people that owned the cottages in poipu were in on it I just couldn't prove it. they had no insurance to cover the break in either.

The County of Kaua‘i Police Commission consists of seven members who are appointed by the Mayor with approval of the County Council.

The Police Commission:
Appoints and may remove the Chief of Police
Reviews the annual budget prepared by the Chief of Police and may make recommendations thereon to the Mayor
Receives, considers, and investigates charges brought by the public against the conduct of the department or any of its members and submit a written report of its findings to the Chief of Police within ninety (90) days
Refers all matters relating to administration of the department to the Chief of Police

KPD would rather cover things up then tell the truth, even the garden island times is in their pocket.
