Did he go to a half way house? Did he have a job lined up to support himself? If the state did nothing to see that he had a place to live and people to help him find a job--he was defeated before he started. He has to eat and sleep like everyone else, and if he received no help seeing to his basic needs, what did they expect? He might have been set up to fail.
