Was wondering everyone's take on health insurance these days.
I was reading the Press Republican this morning (10/11) and noticed there was an Of Interest ad stating there was a special meeting for the Town of Chesterfield at 3:30 (10/12) to discuss health insurance. One this I applaud is it is open to all and not a executive session as I have saw in the past with the Village of Keeseville. Though I got thinking which is scary when I think too much. How many employment opportunities do people have where: 1. Your child loses health insurance when they are 19 and do not pursue their education from high school or just 19 in general perhaps. They would need to find a job with health insurance or perhaps apply for a State run program. Not for me to decide. 2. How may employers only offer insurance if there are so many employees perhaps or a certain time after one has been there 6 months or a year or only offer insurance a certain time of the year. 3. What if you are part time up to will say 35 hours a week and are not offered health insurance and the company keeps you at that so you will not be able to get health insurance and will have to use a state run program. 4. So you may need a state run program but wait. You make too much. So whether you have health insurance or do not because may cost could be a factor it is a real big problem in the United States. I was thinking further. A solution is to run for a Village or Town board. Many do perhaps just to get health insurance. As a taxpayer and concerned citizen. What is your take on working only several hours a week on a committee (hours needed to put in specifically not sure of the number) and attend a meeting once month and special meetings as they come up and you can receive health insurance. Not sure if there is a cost to this health insurance. I'm thinking a smaller cost than full cost. Is is fair? There is a salary paid to have a public office and if you are full time then a health insurance policy is warranted. Not is you are less than part time or even part time as one should NOT rely on an elected position for health insurance. Though it would not be the fault of the elected part time board member of course. I believe everyone should be offered health insurance perhaps if this is the case and a law should be made. Whether or not you choose it that would be up to you. Though if you can't afford it or choose not to accept health insurance that is a shame. Then the problem would lay with hospitals and medical facilities how they would treat those uninsured to keep cost down. Either way we have huge problems with the health insurance issue. What is your take on health insurance? That's my opinion. What's yours? |
