It's time for greatness -- not for greed. It's a time for idealism -- not ideology. It is a time not just for compassionate words, but compassionate action.

Willsboro is a good model, open and free local government online. That is the key that opens the doors to community hopes and dreams.

Well said! And yes, while Willsboro will be losing a grocery store the town and citizens are ALREADY thinking of ways to replace what will be lost. Well done! Keeseville is possibly in jeopardy of perhaps also losing a grocery store and yet, there are two towns and a Village and I know if gosh forbid the local grocery store closes in Keeseville I feel confident the three entities will not have enough ambition to do anything about it. Already the downtown is looking like a ghost town. While uptown is starting to flourish.
Enough said. You get the point.
Oh and by the way. It's funny how everyone is talking about the improvement of our water system as an election ploy yet while receiving the most recent w & s bill I am still seeing violation. The current government can't even fix that problem or see through water meters. Yes, many are still being charged for this in the Town of Ausable.
I have real faith.
Your thoughts.

why should we have to pay for the water when we were told in the village news letter that it may cause cancer in animals and humans and it is not safe to drink?

Well said. And now being forced I will say to drink bottled water. Our great State officials are adding a 5 cent deposit on water. Are we already recycling these bottles anyhow?

The stores collect the 5 cents initially. They hold onto the money and collect interest. We consume safe? bottled water as our drinking source is potential cancer causing.

Now we have this big bag of bottles we were taking to the dump. Oh yes that is correct. They took the bottles for free. Casella's making money on these water bottles and crushing to recycle to help the environment.

Now rather than Casella collecting these water bottles (or Northern or any of these outfits) redemption centers will hold the bottles and make some money on the bottles.

And getting back to the point. You are very correct. Why should we even have to pay Village tax as what do we get for it anyhow? Cancer causing water.

I would say before worrying about the water meters. The Village should worry about the violation of the water. That is a great concern.

So get out an vote and see which dummy elected can figure out how to fix the violation of the water that is repeated newsletter after newsletter.

Have faith and pray we are not stricken with Cancer. We are already polluted with bad water and politicians!

The town of chesterfield should be dissolved and blended into the village of Keeseville. This would save Keeseville and Chesterfield taxpayers 50% or more. Chesterfield is BIG government to make someone wealthy and it is not needed at all. Megan Rock is a proven manager she has done more for Keeseville than any elected official in the last 14 years on a very small salary. The big wheels in chesterfield take home $100,000.00 Major Rock takes home $6,000.00 and does a hell of a lot more for the community. Merging services is the way to go chesterfield has provided the community nothing it only takes away from the community stopping Keeseville’s growth. That money needs to come back to the Town and Village of Keeseville, NY.

I believe the three entities should join forces and become one. The problem is Clinton & Essex County. Can the county lines be extended and what would it take to do so.

New York State is being burying in debt and I'm afraid the three entities together can truly do the job of one.

Name a list of things the three entities do to warrant three townships including the village?

What are they running?

It does NOT take a rocket scientist to figure out how to run this "little bit of area!"

One Supervisor, One full time & part time secretary, A part time purchasing agent or split with the secretary, bid out garbage for the three townships including the village, a road crew for the Winter and some part timers for the Summer, a full time Water & Sewer person who would have to be on call for an emergency and a part timer to read meters.

Drive your own vehicle to and from work and not have all these wasted vehicles driving around the village and towns just to see something not being done. That would save the gas as well as insurance liability driving outside Village limits perhaps.

Consolidate equipment. Sell not necessary extra equipment.

Let's face it, the streets are in need of repairs and the sidewalks and I don't see much accomplished currently with the three entities.

Oh yes, and the three offices currently be operated could be one. The Village of Keeseville has the largest. Perhaps look at which would save the most money or bring in the most money.

If I am forgetting something let me know. But I think the above is close to sufficient.

No one wants to see lay offs or part timers. But we have to look at the overall picture.

Let's face it. This is 2009 and the State is in big troubles and then the townships will follow.

It's time the people started to step up to the plate and cut wasted money. It's time the people started to save on their taxpayers dollars.

Let's do the math.

A Village Mayor + two Town Supervisors
Plow equipment and road equipment from one township
Sell the rest
Sad part maybe lay off some employees
Put extra money to follow through the water meters and have safe drinking water
Heating cost to run the 3 buildings
Sell off the rest
Saving taxpayers dollars ... priceless!!!!

I may be wrong on a lot and there would be a lot to be done but I don't see much productivity combined currently with the 3 townships. It is like spending money just to run government and not a town and village.

What does one have to do to run for supervisor? What would they do first? Your comments would be appreciated! Thank you in advance

Daily Horoscope for December 26

Virgo

Mercury is turning retrograde at just the right time, because it's telling you to consider the validity of your long-term aims and aspirations. If they stand about as much chance of seeing the light of day as you do of winning the Lottery, then you need to streamline them or even abandon them and start again. So think about what you want from life and how you're going to get it. Children and romance may be quite erratic during this phase.
